The Real Talk on-The American college, My experiences and Insights!

The curriculum is average. It is not too average or too basic. First year covers the basics. It emcompasses both theoretical and practical aspects .Apart from core subjects it also has course on life skills and Non major electives. The curriculum also has 2 years compulsory National service scheme, NCC and Serivice learning programmes.

No. I dont experienced any internship programs from my college. I dont even heard the word internship from my favulties mouth. It is not even seen in the academic curriculm. One of the worst thing about Economics department that they dont facilitate internship programs for students

Placement is not quite prevalent. It is rare case scenario. The word internship is not even seen in its curriculum. Some of the students are getting jobs through the placement cell. They create opportunities and pave path to career guidance. They also arranged bootcamps and interviews for final year students.

The fees is completely based on the selected course. It is mostly affordable for all category of students, usually our college instructs for yearly full payment but if there is any request from students side they will help us to pay the fees by parts. Scholarship also provided for economically weaker category students and one thing i have noticed which too good, that The American college offers part time jobs for students within the college campus, They help students by providing lunch schemes and part time paid jobs in college libraries, labs and cooperative stores. The application fee is quite basic around 300 rupees. For UG Economics the tution fees is 25000/per year, Exam fees varries on semester usually around 3000, There is separate fee for certificates and alumini association and money will be collected from students for Department functions and culturals.

The campus life is awesome. It has many cultural and social events. For example commas is the biggest cultural happening in our college, the college is filled with stalls, games, events, sparkles and glitters. Secondly the Oikos which is organized by the economics department also one of the famous cultural event in the college. There is one big common big event is that the Grand college day which is supervisioned by the students service committee.

The hostel life is good. They have separate hostels for both men and women. The hostels are even provided with washing machine and air conditioner. The menu is variable, the food is quite healthy, tasty and hygiene. They provide three meals and two snacks every day and also provide with feast food for any special occaation.

The American college location is its major advantage. It is located in the heart of the Madurai city. It has great Architecture and historical background. I chose this college because of its reputation, expousure and phenomenal infrastructure.

Faculties in The American college are good. They are not too great but not too dump. But the faculties in Economics department is worse, i haven't experienced this types of faculties in my entire academic years. I don't want to mention the names though i can share my personal experience, in my first year i had some clashes with my course teacher, he is very under qualified not even know the definition for Microeconomics, he don't even completed the syllabus and raised voice against his act, he behaved in very cheap manner that he had petsonal vengeance on me and reduced my semester marks. Secondly, In my second year I complained about the faculty's teacher to my class advisor, she backstabbed me that she told that faculty about my complaint and pulled me down. Thirdly in my Third year, The worst experience with my class advisor happened. She begins to manipulate me. She imposed the thought that you are dump and manipulating that iam not studying properly. I haven't seen this kind of teacher in my entire life. She don't even deserved to be called as a teacher. She costed my mental health and i even wanted to recollect the memory of my Final year !

No. There is no entry level exams or interviews for under graduation. But entrance exams is mandatory for specific post graduation courses. For MBA , there will be entrance test and intetview for screning the students.

The true beauty of The American college is seen in the nights. The Rain and rays of the sun are unpaid actors in the campus. The college has many cafeterias and the taste of the snacks are quite decent and eatable. It has lots of hangout spots around the kalignar centenary library, vishal de mall, many standard theaters and restaurants can be seen very near to the campus.
