Remarks

Mangalore University is like heaven for those who rely much on government jobs. As you get more time to prepare yourself. accommodation facility is so good that people become jealous. A negative thing is there like positive vibes ......that is ...people often complain that it is a lonely place at night and far from the city rysh which can be painful. But i must say that this is hell goodfor those who want to innovate themselves doing silence work.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course is very good and you can get hands on experience on Marine geology,Mining,Economic mineral exploration and job assistance for various private companies like Cognizant. This course ensures very good preparation for entrance exams like GSI,CGWB etc. Exam is semester wise with internals and project works in every sem.

Placement Experience

3.5

placements vary between 60-80%. Being honest, this is a course which is getting good day by day and relatively new. So firms and companies accept less from this course. But if you get government jobs, then it pays a hefty amount as salary. Cognizant has successfully hiredmany of us. But still we are waiting for better placement opportunities to come and i assure everyone that it will grow.Internship is not available. You have to pay on your own which is very less amount. Even you get internships in national Labs for which you do not have to pay

College Events

5

Ganesh chaturthi,Saraswati puja, farewells welcomes, Onam,And lots of cultural festivals of Karnataka state. It is mesmerizing how you see many people gather at one place and enjoying day and night without alcohol and cigarettes. That is fun.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee for government selected quota people is 40000? per two year. It is cheap. For self financing students it is 80000?. It is little bit expensive but not much as compared to engg. or medical field. For semesters form fillup fee is around 1300?

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is not provided. But i remind you,if you are scholar,Indian government has every kind of facilities for meritorious students as well as backward categories. Means cum merit scholarsip is available. But the fee is so less that you will not bother about scholarships.

Campus Life

4

extracurricular activity is dominant in this University. Sports people of MpEd,And BpEd teach others how to regularly exercise and participate in mainstream sports. We participated and won trophys for our department.Hockey is dominant, Cricket is also popular. We have gym court for alumni.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a wide community of students settled in the places of this world....MBA people are many. Marine Geology people including me are doing great in National labs. Facebook group helps us to connect. Also our University alumni account keeps us connected.

Admission

This programme is governed by Merit List selection based on graduation marks. I applied through online via website. Then the shortlisted candidates names appeared on their website after 20 daysaround August. Then i physically went there to get admission in an rolling process

Course Curriculum Overview:

Food and nutrition articles in newspaper made me to take this course. As it had full scope in that time. Actually curriculum is very poor in preparing us for real world application. Practical session must include more of industrial visits and projects related to industry. We had enough time to study .

I liked this biotechnology course in degree(Bsc) and i wanted to continue this course with higher studies. Hence this university is reputed one in Karnataka.. i choose this one and I got the seat and I am very happy for this. The teaching methods are really good but it depends on particular lecturers, how they teach .. For main sem exam the time was around 3 hours for 70 marks and it was moderate and can be manageable

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is fairly distributed among the 2 years. The first year broadly covers the course work, and learning of the laboratory techniques. Followed by a mini project and a major project under a professor of interest. Stem cell biology always intrigued me and this course offered exactly what I want. The curriculum focuses on training students very rigorously to make them fit for harsh conditions and situations in the real research world.
