Course Curriculum Overview

2

I joined the batch knowing the fact that it is under Bangalore University but when we attended the first day of our batch. It was declared that we were autonomous batch. We remained the lab rats to experiment. I felt there were too many unnecessary subject which were introduced as extra paper and what you study in college is very different from what is required in the job market. The exams were held on regular basis. First they should focus on getting a stable faculties. The curriculum and guest lecture should be based on real demands of the job rather than just getting too many guest lecturers.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees varies according to if you are eligibility of your scholarship. The entire fee ranges during my session was 2 Lakhs (90k first year and 55k respectively) but because I was eligible for the scholarship I paid 1.8 Lakhs (70k first year and 55k respectively). The eligibility for scholarship is - defence ward, sports quota or meritorious students. Every year the fees increases by 10k. They avail scholarship for SC/ST students but it's a rigorous process to follow.

Campus Life

1

Overall there is no campus. As I am from BA department. We used to have Vrittanta which is a media fest which eventually got cancelled in the last year of our college. There will be freshers and farewell event which takes places which is equally bad. Other festivities are celebrated from students end. The availability of journals and books are really bad. You will find old editions of books. I have asked for access multiple times from the librarian but he said he forgot the password and eventually after a year I gave up. I wrote research papers buying my personal access. CBT is used in classes. Sports classes are nil unless and until you have to give Physical Exam. Extracurricular activities are done. There are multiple groups in the college which works for different clubs but it's mainly handled centrally and you can take no decision on your own. Higher authorities decision is the final one even the teacher coordinator can't speak in between. Even though they say their is freedom of speech but there is no freedom in the campus.

Admission

Truly speaking I did my research and applied to this college as thier were amazing psychology and journalism faculty in the department but they eventually left after the 1st semester. I have just applied at Presidency and I got the seat. So, you can apply on the college portal for a interview round if you clear the criteria of 75% and above. Less than that you have to apply from management quota. A basic round of interview will take place regarding a background & document verification during the interview. They will ask you why did you choose this course and what made you choose this college. Very basic questions will be asked.

Faculty

2

I can personally tell that BA teaching staff is very approachable but you have to be very careful of what you speak as they have their favourites and it can be used against you anytime of the hour. The marking criteria is fair but few teachers are partial and point out students whom they don't like and give them less marks. The faculty quality has eventually declined. The faculty keep on changing so it's really tough for the students to understand the marking pattern.

Night Life

1

There are new cafeteria's which is lined up now-a-days. The accessibility of food is really good but you have to struggle with library. There are gyms near the college. The hostel and campus near the college are really bad. You can choose PG. The food in hostel is really bad. Inside the college campus their is only one canteen which is hangout spot but you will have no space during the lunch break. You can move out of the college to hangout with your friends. The locality is safe till 11 PM after that the place is very silent and empty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
