Campus

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I took computer science in 12th grade which led me to taking bca. I wanted to do something related to computers. I don't really think this syllabus helps us in real world. The course and the teachers should do better. Difficulty of the exams are hard.

Internships Opportunities

1

There are no internship guarantee offered by our college. Though courses like bba have went for internship. By 5th semester everyone will have projects to submit and the students complete it very well and efficiently uses every resources available.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are total of 6 semesters in which each semester fee is 21,000. Apart from that we have exam fee which will be decided by calicut university and then club fee , event fee etc. Courses like bba and bcom costs lesser than bca.

Campus Life

2

There is onam event held in September then there was Union inauguration in october and sports in November. There will be arts and ethnic day , conducted eventually. The library here is really good and many books from various options are available. Classes are technologically efficient. Sports are supported eventhough the campus is really small. Many clubs are there.

Admission

I applied to devagiri college in calicut but unfortunately didn't get in because i only had 85 percentage in 12th. So i applied to colleges through merit and got in holy cross in first attempt itself. Bca is limited here , and not available in many colleges so i felt like this was the only option i had.

Faculty

1

There are almost 9 departments, and almost 1500 students. The staffs are good , not bad. I really like Rani sister, she is also finance officer. She is really supportive. And there are some faculties who are really rude towards us. There are 6 semester's and an internal exam is conducted before every sem exam.

Night Life

1

Gym and cafeterias and all closes around 5. There is no nightlife. Hostel closes at 6.30 pm. Students usually leave at 5 30 pm from college. Classes end around 3 30 pm. Usual hang out spots are near canteen or at the auditorium.

Other Applied Colleges

St Joseph's College Devagiri | Bachelor of Computer Applications [BCA] {Hons.}

Couldn't get in.

I guess it's from the 6th semester. there are many companies especially the big 4's like KPMG, KY, DELOITTE, all of those had made their offers and many students who passed out as well as got into those. 80-89% of the students get the placements. I haven't yet decided my plans aftergetting the degree as of now.

Placement Experience:

Mostly campus placements are provided to third year students because they seek employment opportunities more than others . From my college some of the students are got selected by the companies as trainees or freshers . But only few of the students are got selected by the companies because of fear and lack of communication skills

SBI bank and federal Bank placements are there. 60 percentage of mark is must. After B.Com, I'm going to study MBA and wanna settle with a good bank job or accounting job in outer countries.

I chose BCom because I was interested in the commercial sector but I wish I had chosen a college that provided better placement services. Most of the faculty members strictly read off the textbook and lack experience. Exams were conducted regularly.

Remarks:

St Teresa's college is one of the prestigious college in Ernakulam City. And also it provides numerous of opportunities for the students to exhibit their talents and also to find their own abilities and skills. That's the main reason for me to choose St Teresa's for my higher studies. In addition to that, in the year of 2019 St Teresa's has gained A++ in NAAC, which makes St Teresa's unique from the other colleges of Ernakulam.
