Course Curriculum Overview

4

I was sure of taking B.Com from my school days as i wanted to be in the finance line & so for that the curriculum of this course was the base. The curriculum here has Laws & Income Tax which is very much needed for your real life as any earning person has to pay his income tax every year. So here the basis to detailed level of calculation & payment of tax is taught & also the buisness laws are taught so this will help us as a consumer anyday when we have issues with the products or if we decide to run a business it will help us too. The area of improvements in curriculum could be in the accounts as now the digital accounting as come but here its still book accounting which is being told told which is not good i feel. The frequency of exam have 1 month gap between 2 internals & 15 days from 2nd internal to semester. The difficulty depends upon the subject & staff but basically the exams focuses on the important key chapters of the courses so it would be moderately difficult

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees & Tuition Fee & Exams Fee for 1st Year is 90000 Fees & Tuition Fee & Exam Fee for 2nd Year is 80000 Fees & Tuition Fee & Exam Fee for 3rd Year is 80000 So a total of 250000 was paid as fees for B.Com. For otger cources like B.Tech it is said around 300000 is paid as they bave lab charges. But for all courses there is financial aid or scholarships probided to economically weaker family whose annual income is less, the college bears the fees to 50-75%. Also concessions for ST & SC is available in fees. Apart from then the school also provides travel concessions for students who use public transport to reduce their expenses

Campus Life

5

The intra college fest which happens in Loyola is called Ovations & it usually takes place in August month & intra sports meet happens in the month of January every year. Apart fom this every department conduct their own department destical inviting other colleges & in B.Com it is called Eminence. The loyola college have a wide spread library where students can borrow books. The physical library have more than 25,000 books whereas the college also gives e library access to students in which more books are available to read. Every class room has a projector to project to documents at a larger view to make it easy for student's to see & it also gives Wi-Fi access to evey classroom separately. The college offers sports team for around 15 to 20 sports where you can represent the college in state meets or any other tournaments, also the college conduct social campaigns & art exhibition evey year so interest student could take part. Also there is out reach program for evey department in the college where the stduents must go work on the society for 1 whole semester on their Saturday. The college have 11 clubs including NCC, NSS & Friends of Police in those 11. These 3 have staffs incharge as its from the central government orders, the students in NCC gets camps & preferences in Army while FOP gets in Police recruitment & NSS studbets could also join the national level NSS group controlled by Home Ministry. Other than this tge rest of 8 clubs have 1 staff to just monitor but its run by the senior students. Also ERP protal is provided to students & all the details including the attendance, fees payments, remarks, exams resukts all are published here

Admission

I applied Loyola College, MCC & DG Vaishnaw college but my primary & 1st choice was Loyola College & luckily my 1st confirmed admission came from Loyola so i immediately joined without 2nd thought & later i also got admission in DG Vaishnaw but i declined. My choice for Loyola is bevause its TmailNadu's best college in art's & 3rd in All India NIRF ranking when i joined so i needed that. In MCC i got rejected, i feel thats because of the sest sharing ratio they follow for ech caste & so my cut off didn't go well there. The admission process here is fully onoine. The eligibility is that student must have completed 12th in any of the state board, CBSE or International Standards & no other exams are kept. The cut-off from this takes them to the next process of documents verification & then the admission is confirmed after payment of fees

Faculty

3

Eveey department in the college have enough faculties as per number of studbets in the department. So every class holds 40-80 students & the staffs are easily accessible as they would always be available in the staff room or they also have whatsapp groups with them & so they are available on call too. The faculty i liked tge most is JacobDavis because he is a realistic ataff who doesnt go by books but also give us live life examples while teaching the subject. The faculty i didnt like was Moses Antony as he just reads the lines in the books & also doesnt take time to explain it as well, so this could be done by students itself so i find its useless. Out of 3 years, there would be 6 semesters (2 semesters for a year) & for 2 semesters a year there will be 4 internal exams a year(2 internal exams per semester) so a total of 6 semesters & 12 internals exams would be written. The semester is written fkr 50 marks & later its converted to 50 marks whereas the internals are written for 50 each so 100 marks for 2 internals per semester which is also converted to 50. So the the addition of internals & semester will be the end mark out of 100.

Night Life

4

Since Loyola College is located in Nungambakkam the hot center of Chennaj the night life is so bright & awake there. The gyms, cafeterias in & arohnd colleges are open till night 10 & few ate open till midnight 2AM too. So there wouldn't be any issue for students. The campus timing ends 6:30PM for evening college which start by 1:30PM while the students must be back at hostel by 8PM. KhadharNawazKhan (KNK) road itself is the hotspot ehich is just walkable distance from the college & its absolutely safe as the city is awake whole night here as shops & parks are open till late midnight here

The specific aspect will be accounting that made me choose this couse. The curriculum made me to prepare for future accounting field works and knowledge around the field. The improvements that I suggest may is to add more relevent real life job experience in subject books itself. As per me who is one of a topper student in my college, The difficulty is moderate to me and timing of exams are more enough to fill all the questions.

Placement Experience:

In MCC there is placement but it's not 100% placement, only 10 to 20 from a class of 60 gets placed, so when it comes to placement it's upto to you and your skills. Normaly the placement enrollment starts at beginning of your 5th semester or end of your fourth semester, you can opt for placement or higher study. The highest package was from Standard Chartered & Deloitte it was 6 Lakhs CTC. Accenture, TCS and some well known companies will participate in placement drive. The average package will be Rs.3.5 Lakhs CTS. I'm planning to go for higher studies while doing a part time job after getting degree.
