Life at IIT BHU

In my course Biomedical engeenering we mix principles of engineering with medicine to create a better experience for patients. The curriculum is very real world oriented and helps student land a good job in their core field. Exams are not tough at all and the frequency of the exams aren't a problem either since we have one major exam every 3 month.

Internship are offered to student from 3rd year onwards via the placement cell of Institute. With average stipend of about ?80000 per month. Many companies have their own process of applying for internship also you need to have a high enough CGPA to be qualified for applying in internship programs of these companies.

Placements in IIT BHU is great with an impressive average of 2200000 per annum and highest international package of 1.68Cr and highest domestic package of about 60LPA. Every year almost 80-85% student applying for jobs get placed, others mostly go fir higher studies abroad.

Tuition fees at IIT BHU for 4-5 year b-tech or IDD course can vary from 8-10L(about 2L per year) and hostel fees is 8000 per year. Mess fee fees comes out to 30000 per year. If you are OBC -NCL or EWS candidate and have total family income less than 8L and more than 5L you get a 2/3rd tuition fee remission and if your family income is less than 5L then your entire tuition fee is waived(although you still have to pay hostel and mess fees).

We have 4 major fests every year that is kashiyatra( cultural fest) held in January, Saturnalia (DJ night) held in August typically, Bollywood night held in october and spardha(annual sports meet) held in October. Our Library is well stacked with both physical and online copies of various books free for use of IIT students. Every classroom is equipped with projectors, wifi and charging ports under desk for laptops and mobiles. We have more than 20 sports club with coaches and proper infrastructure. There is a club called "Sahyog" Which involves us teaching and spending time with underprivileged kids in schools and helping them have a normal basic education.

3 students share one room and 3 beds, 3 table chair and 2 big cupboards are provided. Mess food is great as IIT BHU is known for its amazing mess food and the student body keeps a constant check on hygiene. Hostel also has common room on every floor with TT table and Tv in every common room, we have a canteen on hostel premises and a wending machine Also we have washing machines on every floor The hostel is very affordable as they charge only 8000 per year for hostel accommodation not including mess(which cost 30000 per year)

I applied to top 7 IITs and IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT BHU and IIT ropar. Although I wasn't getting a decent branch in other IITs(Because of my rank in JEE ADV) so I chose IIT BHU because of it's great placement and strong Alumni network. To get into any if the 23 IITs you have to appear in JEE mains and be in the top 200000 students (out of 1440000 students in 2024) then those 200000 students are eligible for appearing in JEE advance, for a seat in any IIT your rank in JEE advanced need to be under 17800 for IIT BHU specifically your rank needs to be under 14000.

All the faculties and professors here are PhD holders from renowned institutions around the world they are great at breaking down the subject. All our professors are very reachable and given has given us their personal mobile numbers for any queries related to their respective subject. Although I am still in my 1st year but till now I very much liked and admire my Maths professor Dr. Debdas ghosh(He is in the list of top 2% scientists in the world published by Harwars) We have 2 semester in one academic year and 2 exams per semester although quizes and assignment are pretty frequent. Exams are not that tough at all, even if studies 2-3 days before the exam they can clear it with ease.

We have 2 gyms in our campus one in student activity centre which houses many indoor sports other one in gymkhana ground where every outdoor activities are practiced. Library is open till 2AM although study rooms and common area are installed in every hostel. For the 1st year students they can't leave hostel after 10PM and 5AM, although from 2nd year you're free to go anywhere. During the day time the favorite hangout spot is Limbdi corner where almost every club meeting takes place. After 10PM you can go to Electrical engineering building garden to hangout or you can leave the campus to visit the various Ghats in Varanasi. The safety is ensured in the campus with many guards and cctv cameras throughout the campus.
