Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum includes courses from diverse fields of psychology giving the students opportunities to explore and learn about these fields before they specialise during Masters. The course content can be reduced a bit as it is too much for students to handle. Mid terms and term end exams are held for each semester. There are a total of 6 semesters. Difficulty level is above average.
Internships Opportunities
Some of the organizations include Advitya and Thane Mental Hospital, there is no stipend for internships in my course. There are internships available for different areas of psychology like Clinical, Counselling and Industrial Psychology.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the B.Sc. Applied Psychology course at NMIMS Navi Mumbai, the first year fee was Rs 115000 for me and then it was Rs 95000 for second year and third year. There are no separate quotas or fees, the fees is standard for everyone. There are no scholarships or financial aid available.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite lively with each major course conducting their own fest throughout the year, lots of events happen and students have a lot of committees and clubs to choose from. The library is decent, nothing special but gets the job done, you can get access to Turnitin and printing services as well. The classrooms have a smart board and are air conditioned. Sports are generally non existent as the campus doesn't have the facility for it but off campus events are held sometimes.
Admission
I applied to FLAME University, Pune and got a confirmed addmission. I chose NMIMS over it as the course structure was far better and the course was significantly more affordable. I got rejected from Ashoka University as I didn't do well in the entrance exam. The admission process of my college is quite straightforward. You need to have above 65% in 12th from any stream and give the university's entrance examination. There are no cut offs as such and the admission isn't too competitive.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is about 40:1. The faculty to student relationship is excellent. Faculties are easily approachable and very helpful with both academic and non academic concerns. Ishita Bhattacharya and Arpita Sarkar are two core faculties who are especially supportive. The exams consist of Internal Assessments through assignments, presentations and mid-terms and the term end exams at the end of wach semester. The exams are fairly challenging and you have to put in effort to clear them. A few students fail exams and usually appear for and clear them in re-exams. The fail rate is not very high. The course curriculum is highly relevant and is helpful for future academic pursuits.
Night Life
The campus has one cafeteria where students generally get food, tea and coffee, it's not the best and the food is average. The locality around the campus is fairly safe and is a student dominanted residential area with lots of shops, gyms and cafes.
