What Students Say?
Likes
- The central library is very good with centralised ac where we can study comfortably and the collection of educational books are too good
- Mechanical engineering labs are equipped with all the necessary devices and equipments with access for students to develop their own projects with clubs
Dislikes
- The lack of proper lawns and mid to below average food in canteen
- Mechanical engineering main building is in very bad condition as the ceilings are falling off in some areas and quite risky for students to study there.
Course Curriculum Overview
THE COURSE IS VERY OUTDATED. it is not relevant anymore and the industry standards have changed yet the professors live in a denial of the modern situation and want to teach what was taught to students 50 years ago with no involvement of modern techniques
Internships Opportunities
There are absolutely no internship opportunities for mechanical engineering students you can opt for research internships but other than that you don't get chance to work in industries on campus but off campus you can get internships with some outer connections
Placement Experience
7th sem students are eligible for placements there were no significant companies which came for mechanical engineering students and the average offer made till now is around 5lpa with total of 40/210 students placed till now. the highest package was 15lpa and lowest was 1lpa im planning on pursuing my career as software engineer aftee this degree
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The tuition fees per semester is approximately around 67000 with seat rent and registration charges to be paid in every even semester other than that the mess facilities are 17000-19000 per semester which is included in hostel fees that is 37000 per year. The fees for st/sc are 6000 per sem and fee remission is applicable to obc ncl students and gen ews too.
Campus Life
The overall experience is very bad. the people, the crowd here is awful and these people don't have any dreams or innovation they're just part of a herd going nowhere. The facilities are pretty bad in the campus except for the central library it feels like lotus in a mudpool bad classrooms with risky old infrastructure of mechanical department clubs are pretty good in campus and only there you can see some innovative ideas other than that it's pretty trash
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are quite mixed the first year hostel is very very bad with horrible conditions second year hostel is new so there is quite some good facilities third year hostels are mixed in two buildings but overall good final years also get good hostels there is double occupancy for 1,2,3 years and half double half single for final year
Admission
I had applied to this college because it was the best NIT for mechanical engineering and i was keen to move my career forward as robotics engineer but after i saw the situation of the curriculum and teaching it was not worth at all. The admissions was through Josaa and the cutoff was 20000 crl in jee mains
Faculty
Faculties are quite average with some exceptional professors who had done research in quite modern ideas such as artificial intelligence integration in mechanical engineering and as such but there are some faculties as well who do not want to research in new topics and are stuck in age old technologies Some exceptional faculties include KP Desai sir, AA Shaikh sir, AD Parekh sir and a few more. Some professors are very bad and can hold some grudges towards students such as DB Gohil who is a very bad person and a psychotic. There are two major exams each semester Midsem and Endsem with some class tests in between. These exams are pretty neutral to clear, with average of 1/10 student not passing them. The curriculum is VERY OUTDATED there is no new technology introduced it's the same as what was taught 50 years ago and there is no effort to change to the updated curriculum and also we have to make drawings sheet on paper until 6 semesters which is very useless as the industries has adopted cad softwares completely and there is absolutely no need to make drawings with pencil and paper yet the professors torture students to make that and also don't give marks on those. We are taught Autocad in the final 7th semester with internship in 8th semester. So how can a student be job ready with these outdated methods
