Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very relevant to whichever course you are studying. My course curriculum taught me how to optimize production lines, design through AutoCAD, and prepare for real-world applications. Exams are conducted twice a semester (that is, every six months). The timing depends on the time; it can be in the morning, afternoon, or evening.
Internships Opportunities
Different companies come during the intern season from Quantbox with a stipend of 4lpa to Google, Microsoft, Bajaj, JSW, etc. They come for different roles from Software developers, data scientists, analysts, summer associates, etc.
Placement Experience
On-campus placements start in the 7th semester for a 4-year program. All kinds of companies visit from Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, and Amazon to some international companies too. The highest package has gone to more than 1 crore through some companies coming to the average package is around 19-20 LPA. Overall around 85-90% of students get placed in their placement season. I have though of doing a job for 1-2 years and then pursue for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure includes 1,38,000 per semester, including hostel and mess fees. It can vary to 1,45,000, depending on which year you are studying. This is for the general category and OBC students. OBC and EWS students whose family income is between 3-5LPA get 33% of their fees waived, and those whose income is less than 1LPA get their whole tuition fees waived. For SC/ST students their whole tuition fees are waived and also have the chance to get their mess fees refunded. There are a variety of scholarships, the most famous one being the James Thomson Scholarship. You can just Google the IIT R scholarship, and you will get a list of them with detailed information.
Campus Life
The cultural fest of IITR is THOMSO which occurs in October. The technical fest is known as COGNIZANCE which is typically around March. IITR library is very vast you get get a lot of books there for studies of all kinds of variety. Also, you can easily access them as there are computers set up which will help you to get to know where that particular book is. Classrooms are large and well-equipped with projectors, AC, and tiered benches so that everyone can easily see the board. IITR is famous for its sports and was also the general champion in the Inter-IIT sports. It has amazing sports facilities with different grounds to swimming pool and much more. There are also student-run clubs for different works may it be tech or cultural from photography to fashion.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are decent and include a room with basic facilities like bed, cupboard and table chair. coming to mess food, food taste is okayish not too bad. Registration of the hostel happens at the start of the session which is quite easy.
Admission
I cleared JEE ADV, so I gave my priority list of colleges, which included all IITs and a few NITs.I got confirmed admission to IITR. I wanted to have a college that is in the top 7 and according to my rank, I was getting a decent branch which I preferred cause after you come to college you study for what you want to pursue other than the course. I also took exams of BITS, MIT, VITEEE, and MHT-CET but I preferred IIT over all of those so I did;t apply for their admission. The admission to IIT happens through JOSSA which is conducted in 5 rounds. For this, you must clear the JEE ADV exam which will have having certain cutoff that depends upon reservations. Overall admission experience was good if everything was understood and done.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:3 which is considered good. The faculties are really very helpful with all kinds of doubts and also they are easily approachable. Almost all the faculty members are good I can't mention someone specific. Coming to exams, there are two exams in a semester one is MTE i.e., mid-term and ETE i.e., end-term exams. Apart from this, the faculty can also give quizzes. The difficulty level depends on the paper setter for that subject. Almost all students pass the exams it hardly happens that someone fails can say around 99% of students pass the exams.
