What Students Say
Likes
- I like the college facilities such as the lab facilities and the equipments they provide for bsc forensic science students. The labs are very well equipped and and the faculty is also having adequate knowledge and training experience and friendly
- I like the college infrastructure. The environment is very welcoming and peaceful with a lot of greenery. I personally like the spots to hangout with friends and also like the vibe they give out.
Dislikes
- Some of the assignments assigned are a bit of out of context and not related to forensic science. However i believe it for our personally understanding and as a part of general knowledge.
- During the first few years of college there were a lot of classes mostly from 9-5. Also some of the subjects were physics and chemistry. However those subjects were assigned to give us a basic definition of the subjects which we further studied.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose forensic science as it was interesting and unique from all the courses. When I initially chose the course, I saw the subjects which the college is going to teach. Some of the subjects that intrigued me were dermatoglyphics, questioned document examination, biology and serology, digital forensics, and DNA examination. All these subjects were taught throughout the semesters. It helps in real life as these are the core subjects that a forensic scientist requires. There were frequent exams every 3 months or so which were beneficial so that we wouldn't forget the studied subjects. They were moderate exams and were not of that difficulty level.
Internships Opportunities
The internships opportunity varies as different students have different fields of interest. Some of the seniors in forensic field have been placed in police, govt offices and even in CFSLS and RFSLS in India. Some of the students have cracked UGC and NET and have recieved better packages from various government institutions such as CFSL and RFSL.
Placement Experience
The placement facilities are great in this university as it provides almost 100% scholarships to all the students in the university. The students are eligible for campus placements right from 4th or 5th semester. There are seperate placement classes for the students. There were several offers placed in the college and several companies have visited the college as a part of the placement drive. My plans after getting the degree is to go abroad and complete my masters in forensic science preferably psychology as my specialization.
Fees and Financial Aid
The original fee is 80,000 per semester however i got a scholarship which reduced down to 48,000 per semester. There is a total of 6 semesters so i am paying 2,88,000. I got a scholarship of 2nd priority however with more percentage in 12th grade, the fees will decrease more. I personally feel the fee is affordable
Campus Life
LPU is known for its cultural events and the festives they organize at the university. Some of them include MAGNITUDE, SPECTRA, ONE INDIA, etc. the events are very engaging and colorful. There are students from all over india and even aborad who participate in these events. They generate a sense of togetherness in the children and help build their career as well in cultural events Even in sports, LPU has excelled and is very well known in sports fields. Championships are also held in the university from various states in india
Admission
I chose this college especially because the college provided better placement facilities and better packages. Also, the core subjects that were related to forensic science were taught in this university. Also, the teachers here are phd scholars and are highly efficient and highly skilled and experienced. I applied in Amity, noida and got an offer letter. However, i got a better offer in terms of fees and scholarships at this university and hence i chose this university over the others. I also applied for NFSU which is a government college however it was required to write an exam but there was a bare minimum chance that i would qualify and hence I didn't opt for the college. The admission process is very simple and also there is a staff to guide your through each and every process. I got a scholarship of around 50% since i attempted the LPU nest exam. I got a second-level scholarship and if you work more and study hard, more scholarships can be gained.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1:5 which i think is appropriate. The teachers are very approachable and very kind and they were helpful throughtout the semesters when we were in need. I personally love all the staff as everyone are kind and help us when we are at need. During our first 3 semesters the number of courses we studied were high as it is a basic degree and require all the basic courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, etc. however at every semesters there atleast 3 subjects related to forensic science which were beneficial. In the following semesters there were more forensic based subjects which helped us build our career and also helped for further studies and placement drives.
