What Students Say
Likes
- I personally like the efforts of faculty to teach students. DG sir is very inspiring and has a bold personality. overall environment is good for study as college has minimal events.
- The library is huge and contains most of the helpful books. students can request for new or any book they want in library for their development.
- fees structured is very nominal as it is merit based and it ensures discounts for the brilliant minds.
Dislikes
- Bus facility- sometimes students have to stand in bus because of lack of seats available
- the time-period of re-issuing of book is less (21 days only). students have to carry books for the re-issue purpose.
- Internet doesnt work properly in most of the areas of college
Course Curriculum Overview
In the first year all subjects were basic and has to be studied by all branches of B.tech and as a second year student i would say that most of the subjects of first year are irrelevant to second year these includes manufacturing practices, basic civil engineering, etc. but despite of these aptitude was one of the subject which is very helpful in terms of placements and the SIG subject in second year are more relevant and give a broad perspective of the future work and jobs. these subjects include OOPM, IPS, AI, DSA. these are the necessity for the job perspective. I think the first year cirriculum can be more enhanced by introducing DSA in the second sem for CS,AIML,DS branches. But it is upto the RGPV university.
Internships Opportunities
College upraises students for interships as interships helps students to stand out of the crowd and get placed. Most of the students gets interships on their own as they does'nt want to rely on college. Otherwise the college provide not much intership opportunities according to my knowledge as heard by the seniors
Placement Experience
The average package is around4.7-5.4 lacs per annum. the highest package offer in college placement was around 12-15 lacs per annum. off campus placement went upto 40 lacs per annum. College allows students from fourth year or third year for internships and students in Fourth year are allowed for college placements. recently TCS visited the college and recruited around 30 students.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm student of 2023-27 batch currently in my second year. My tution fees for a year is INR 70,000/yr this is based on my score of JEE (i.e 61 %tile). Our college has merit based fees structure where students with higher percentage gets more discounts in their tution fees. I go to college by bus and bus fees for my batch is INR 14,000/yr from indore and if a student resides in Dewas, Dhar then they have to pay INR 24,000/yr for the bus facility. At the time of adimission I have to pay 1500 rupees as caution money which will be refunded after completion of my course. Students with very less marks in JEE have to pay upto inr 1,20,000/yr and this is the highest fees. Our college also provides and make student aware of scholarships of government programs such as Medhavi chhatra yojana and other.
Campus Life
IIST conducts tech fest for first year students in which clubs of the college conducts various events such as dance competition, singing competition, code test, robo race, poetry ,rangoli competitions and many more. students organise the events and for that a specific club called Anjaneya is formed. previously Bhramastra was responsible for the event management. the college library consists hundreds of journals and around 76K books and 46k ebooks. All classroom have a green teaching board, a projector, a computer system, projector sheet with fans and windows for ventilation and attached bench and table. a class contains around 78 students. Every class has a class cordinator assigned by institute who is responsible for managing and reportinf about eprformances of students. In terms of sports IIST has 5 pickleball court, 1 basketball court, 3 table tennis tables, 1 volleyball court, a cricket ground, a huge football ground along with indoor sports like carrom, chess. Once in a year an inter-branch tournament is held for students. Every class has sports period only once a week. Many clubs like lexicon club, AI club, Codechef are really helpful in evolving communication skills and enhacing the confidence of public speaking. infrastructure is quite attractive and soothing as it blends nature with education. Our college has many chiku trees, tomato trees, rose plants and many other that enhances the overall beauty of the college. In facts many of the vegetables of canteen are grown within the college which provides a organic and healthy food to the students.
Admission
I was focused for IITs and NITs but because of my low score in JEE i could'nt get admission in them and then I've to opt from the colleges in indore only. I visited Acropolis but there I could'nt get the course of my interest therefore I've to drop the plan for Acropolis college. then after many of my relatives suggested for medicaps including my couching insitute faculty but due to high fees and more students in medicaps unversity i droped it too. then my sister who is in IIST indore told me about her college then I visited the college and found that this college meets most of my requirements like fees, placements, infrastructure and many more. So, I choose to take admission in IIST indore. the admission in IIST is done through MPDTE coucelling which according to me take a long time and the college starts from september of the year. the whole admission is done by college faculty of SAC (Students Admission Cell) and students have not to worry. In most of the cases students get their desired branch adn if they dont they can apply in second round of councelling. the seconf round of counceling is the last option left for the students as there is no other alternative than taking admission in autonomous college. After all the admission process is so smooth but take time.
Faculty
the faculty to student ratio is quite sufficient. most of the faculty are very supportive and helpful in studies as well as other fields. The most liked faculty of my class was Mrs.Aakanksha Agrawal ma'am who teached mathematics 1 and mathematics 2 in our first year but unfortunately she leaved the college this year. secondly Dr.Pareemita Chanchani ma'am was so liked as she used a very interesting way of teaching by envolving stundents and create a interactive environment by the way she teaches engineering chemistry in first year and she is HOD of secoond year CS. one of the most unfavourite faculty was of Basic Computer engineering (Puneet sir) as many students didn't understand what he tries to teach. due to this many students often tried to bunk his class but most of the time he catches them and bring them back to class. to be honest he didn't teach the basics pf bce that are useful in second year today we've to struggle with some basics because he didnt teached well. talking about the exams. our college is affiliated with RGPV ,bhopal and our college conducts 2-3 MST (mid-sem tests) in a semester which are set by college faculty of invidual subjects and is quite easy with some exceptions. secondly for even sems (as I've observed) pre-university tests are conducted according to the time left for the end sem exam. The semester end exam (end-sem) is usually conducted between dec-jan for odd semesters add between Jun-july for odd sems. these sem exams are difficult as compare to MST as the paper come from RGPV bhopal.
