Course Curriculum Overview

3

Like i mentioned earlier the course is meant for practical exposure, criminology is not something that u can learn only in the books and acharya makes it possible for everyone to get the required knowlegde to ace their future

Internships Opportunities

3

We get psychology internships at different clinics around the country, and for criminology its either a field visit or a government based internship is provied. Apart from that case studies or crime scenes are constructed.

Placement Experience

4

there are gaurented placement oppertunities at acharya. but once u are into criminology you must go for masters to gain more knowledge about what you are studying and only then you'll be able to get a steady job

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is sem wise, first you'll have to pay the registration fee which is 40k and moving on the 1st sem fee along with uniform will cost you 59k and 2sem fee reduces to 36k. The total fee structure for the course will be 2.5L

Campus Life

5

Acharya provides a lot of club activities, their sports events and especially their fests. Acharya is known for its Habba. Be it academics or extra cirriculum. acharya has got it all at one campus. and theres no pressure at this college

Admission

I chose acharya because its the only college that has BA criminology, this also includes psychology and sociology. the admission process was not that hectic. you simply had to register and based on your interests and grading they would send u the offer letter

Faculty

4

This course follows the SEP policy, the marking scheme of this policy states 80 written and 20 practical, the faculty at acharya are very helpful and friendly. There's a lot to learn from this course, lot of practical insights too.

Placement Experience:

After the 2nd year, you are offered the option to register for placements. Various companies like Goldman Sachs, EY and NGOs like TeachForIndia visit the college yearly for placements. I am not very aware of the placement scenario in the college as I am planning on pursuing my masters immediately after college and hence, am not looking to get placed. The placement cell in the college is very functional however, and give time-to-time updates about placements and internship opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It was the only college in Mangalore that gave Criminology as an option with Psychology so that was my main reason for choosing it. The curriculum is pretty intensive in terms of assignments and projects. In theory, the course is alright but practical wise, there was limited exposure. There should have been more time allotted to learning research methods and stats intensively. There are internals conducted every semester after two months of commencement and finals at the end of the semester. The difficulty level lies in that you should be able to answer long answers in shorter time.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is very good and many top companies come to the interview. Many students get job offers with a very good package. Compared to other colleges the percentage of placement is more in this college. The college also offers post-graduation studies if you don't want to perceive higher studies.

Remarks:

The only positive thing about this South East Asian College of Arts, Commerce and Science is that you will not feel like a stranger here. Everyone is very supportive and they won't let you feel nervous also. The negative thing is they don't allow you to go and have food during lunch hrs and moreover they take 2 hrs of Tuition Classes which I personally think is a totally waste of time. The Principal here is also rude.
