Course Curriculum Overview
ECE is a safe bet, can go into both core and IT fields is what I was told in order to take this course and that's true ig to some extent. The curriculum here is what I liked, only the first sem has tons of courses from other departments, in second sem itself we'll majorly jump into our department courses which is great. I'd prefer there were more periods per week dedicated to math and physics because 3 or 4 per week ain't enough to learn the whole thing thoroughly. Exams feel a little rushed but can't blame them because our admissions got delayed because of NEET issue. Overall, the curriculum is near perfect
Internships Opportunities
I'm just in first year so I dont know much about internships but I was made aware that there are plenty of opportunities for internships especially with the vast alumni of the esteemed instituition still very much in contact with students and ready to intern and employ us in their companies.
Placement Experience
As I'm still in first year, I'm not very well versed with the placement stats but as far as I have heard, it's great, a ton of top companies come here and the lpa is pretty high compared to other colleges for circuital courses. A good amount of students go ahead and pursue masters in India or abroad after college. My plans, I'm not very sure but I'd also mostly do MS after college if I don't land an extraordinary job
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm an NRI so I'm paying a fee higher than everyone else which is 7500 dollars i.e 6.3 L per year. The application fee was 44k inr. For general students, it's less than a lakh per year given it's a government university. A lot of students avail scholarship also, government school students get full ride scholarship with the TN govt scholarship program
Campus Life
This is the college if you want to have an awesome college life with tons of clubs and fests. We have around 22 clubs catering a variety of student interests from dance to astronomy to argiculture. Our college encourages students to pursue their interests as much as they do academics. The fests here are extravagant too and we can't count cos there are soo many, both technical and non technical. Techofest is the biggest event and that is in even sem so waiting for that. The library is huge and a nice spot to study too. The classrooms are pretty old but are fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. Only con is the bathrooms aren't great. College also encourages sports personnels and provides lots of opportunities for them.
Hostel Facilities
I stay at Lavender International Hostel which is a hostel with great amenties for NRIs and foreign nationals. General kids can take admissions here too. The rooms are double sharing with attatched bathroom, microwave and fridge. Room cleaning, laundry and repair works are all included in fees. The mess food is good comparitively, they serve non veg most of the days and ice cream once a week. The fee is 96k per sem which is pretty reasonable for the amentities. The security is high as well, no one other than students and staff can enter. All deliveries will be made at hostel gate itself
Admission
I have CIWGC or NRI quota so I actually aimed for top NITs in South, namely Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal and Calicut. I got caught in the 27s2 shift of JEE 24' which wrecked my dreams because my percentile went down. I still planned on pursuing non circuital courses like civil in NIT Trichy and I was eligible too but I spoke with some professionals online and they strictly advised me not to do anything other than circuitals even if it were the top instituitions. I could've gotten circuitals in some other NITs but parents preferred I stay in my homestate Tamilnadu. So I applied and got CSE IITDM Chennai, CSE/ECE at PSG Tech and lastly, ECE at College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University. Out of the lot, Anna University is the best and it's Chennai so blindly said yes when I got this
Faculty
Most faculties are very approachable and friendly. I'm just in first year but so far all the teachers I have had are nice. Especially Dr Murali in Physics department, he is god, he gave his own notes and he makes the hrdest concepts seem easy. About exams, we have two assessments and then a final exam, haven't written any yet so can't comment much on that. As far as I've heard from seniors, the exams are mid but scoring a cgpa above 9 is pretty hard and needs a lot of work
