What Students Say
Likes
- The academic is really strong. The curriculum is followed thoroughly.
- The teaching staff is really understanding, kind and good at the subject matter
- It's a girl college. So the ratio is only girls. With respect to staff there is a ratio of 10:1 in female and male teacher.
Dislikes
- The campus size is really small. Which leads to Chaos and noise when crowded.
- The exam schedule is not feasible. You might end up giving two internal tests in a single day with only a half an hour break.
- The infrastructure can be better if the college. Though amenities are available but things can be a lot better.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum though seems hectic but is extremely relevant and important. The course for psychology lacks statistics as a seperate paper. And the research experience is also limited. The course work definitely teaches you time management as a skill. But it helpful for the future higher studies. It prepares a strong academic base and practical exposure as well. The course includes a good amount of practical work each semester which is really helpful. The exams happened with a gap of month and a half. And you get good time to study for the sem end exams.
Placement Experience
There is no specific placement for the bsc. Psychology course since a lot of students go for further studies such as masters in psychology. The placement offers service and administrative roles for students who wish to. The placements are not very good as most students join the college for the strong academic base for further studies. I myself plan to get a masters degree in psychology.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee structure is very transparent and clear. The total fee yearly was around 40,000 including the tuition fee, development charges, lab fee, library fee, etc. The exam fee and other registration charges are separate. Though the fee has a slight increase yearly but overall it is very affordable. The scholarships are available for both merit based and government based. There is a straight scholarship of 10,000 available for students scoring 90% and above at the time of admission. Rest scholarships for students with excellent academic performance are available.
Campus Life
The major fest is the Tarangini fest which is the main highlight of the college. The other tests include the literary fest, psychology fest, and other department fests which take place in the college campus. The class rooms include both a blackboard and a smart board. Comfortable benches, fans and lights. The sports are mostly for students who option for it. It happens in the ground opposite the college building. The clubs include NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross, Literary Mavens club, Anarghya Psychology Forum, etc.
Admission
I applied to several other colleges but then I chose this one due to the location of college and the reputation it holds apart from the affordable fee structure. The college is located in the heart of the city in Bangalore with everything around the corner. It's completely safe and easily accessible. It has a beautiful lake within a km of the campus called the Sankey tank. The admission process includes the form submission with documents and all. Then you are called for an interview. After the interview if selected you are able to get into the college by paying the first installment of the course fee.
Faculty
The faculty is good. I mean most of the teachers are really up to the mark. They teach good and also are able to provide comprehensive details about the subject. The faculty to student ratio is 20:1 in most cases on an average. In some collective classes the number of students get more. Personally having to interact with psychology department more often. I liked them a lot. The teachers are really good at what they teach. Though with exams and everything things get complicated but they help to even it out. The faculty I didn't like gladly left the college so I won't be mentioning that. But you'll have two internal tests and then a semester end exam. And same for the practical exams. Mostly students clear the tests. Some failed students need to write the exam again and get the passing marks.
Other Applied Colleges
Bethune College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Psychology)
It was very far and feasible for me to do a full-time course there.
