What Students Say?
Likes
- The best thing about this college is the Alumni network of this college. Many of the alumni are working at very reputed firms and MNCs and government bodies.
- The competitive coding culture of this college is much better than many of the Tier-2 colleges. Students have pretty good ratings in Coding platforms like Leetcode, Codeforces, Codechef, etc.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure could be more better. Like new buildings for every department (presently it is for Chemical and Mechanical branch department only)
Course Curriculum Overview
I don't know much about other branches but in CSE branch the course curriculum is well strucuted and very relevant for the students. All the topics which are taught are the current trending topics of the field like AI/ML, cybersecurity. The course preferred programming language isnalso not a barrier and Java and C are the major preffered.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The tuition fees for CSE students is 85,000 and for the core branch students is 70,000. The caution money is 5,000 which has to be deposited at the time of the admission. Examination fee is of 7,500, user charge is 5,275 and student activity and training and placement fee is 2,000. So the overall fees for a CSE student is 99,775 per year for non-hosteller and for core branch students it is 84,775 per year for non-hosteller students. Students opting for hostel have to pay extra 14,500 per year for the hostel. Also additional 20,000 per semester for the mess food. There is a scholarship for the students meeting the eligibility criteria by the government of Uttar Pradesh "UP Post Matric Scholarship".
Campus Life
The campus is spread across 110 acres with the all facilities like Lecture building, Library, Auditorium, Canteen, Hostels, Sports Complex and hospital. The annual cultural fest is "Encore". Apart from this there are also inter-department fest like: "Tantransh", "Vidyouth", "Civista" and "Mechfest". The college has various cultural clubs (JOSH, Insaniax, Excelsior, Auroras, Kalakriti), social club (Parmarth) and technical clubs (Fractal, GDSC and Robotics club).
Hostel Facilities
There are total 9 boys hostel and 4 girls hostel at IET Lucknow. Of these 9 boys hostels, 1 hostel is alloted to the final year students of MBA and MCA. All the hostels have basic facilities like Water cooler, geyser, LAN or wi-fi. The mess fees is 20,000 per semester and hostel fees is 14,500. The quality of mess food is good, not comparable to home food but yeah eatable and far better. There are 4 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, evening snack and dinner). In the first year and second year the room is sharing but from third year onwards its singly alloted room for boys.
Admission
The college is ranked 1 among all the 700+ colleges under AKTU. It is an autonomous institute. Also the coding culture and alumni network of IET Lucknow is far better than many of the Tier-2 colleges. The admission to this colllege takes place by UPSEE counselling based on JEE Mains rank. I don't remeber the exact cut-off but if you are general category then you can get this college with the rank under 50K for Computer Science branch.
Faculty
Some faculty members of IET Lucknow are very chill towards academics and some are strict as well (also depends upon department as well). However, all the faculties are well qualified (mostly of them have Ph.D. from very recognized universities) and have a teaching experience of more than 20 years. Also there are two mid term exams namely CT-1 and CT-2 and students can score well by focusing on the lectures and preparing notes well. Many of the professors are working on some advance and trending research topics.
