Excellent Institution if you see Litigation and Practice, Civil Services as your future.

Some classes are equipped with working projectors, which only a very few faculties seem to be using. The curriculum is very well designed, it even incorporated the new criminal laws. In your fourth and fifth years, you get to choose your electives whereby you can specialise in subjects, you deem necessary for your future, which is actually cool. As of internal is concerned, 30 marks is given out of which 5 is for attendance, 5 is for viva, 10 is for mid semester examination, 7 is for project and 3 is for presentation. Again, you would have to be exceptionally exceptional to score above 28 here. 70 marks is for your external examination.

There are a few colleges in universities, which approach the internship Cell with opportunities, for example, the state human rights commission, Competition commission of India, Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and many other private practitioners of law at Madras High Court. There is a separate internship Cell, which works at SoEL in finding internship opportunities available across the nation and notify the students of the same. But how most of the students find the internships at their own.

Fee is comparatively lesser than most of the colleges in Tamil Nadu. Being a State University and funded by the State Goverment, to the various amenities we avail, INR 80000 per year is really worth it. It is mandated that you pay this in two instalments, even if you can afford to pay it once and for all, i.e., Semester wise. While you pay a higher amount say (INR 42000) for the odd semester, you'll be paying (INR 30000) for the even semester which shall be just the tuition fee. Only the first year shall have INR 80000, in the consecutive and balance 4 years, you'll be asked to pay INR 70000 (approx) only. Scholarships available for SC/ST who shall be paying only half of what we pay, i.e., Tuition Fee shall be excluded in both the semesters for them. Students those who studied in Govt. Tamil Medium school apart from the reservation benefit of 7.5% shall be paying INR 10 (Ten Rupees Only) yearly. There is no scholarships based on merit awarded here. NRI Fee comes to 1.5L a year.

The institution organises a cultural fest every year, which could definitely be satisfactory. Don't beat yourself up by comparing yourselves to the celebrations at the private Universities. The library has an excellent set of journals, books, Lexicons, reporters and you could even lend the books for a while. Every process in the library is absolutely digitised. Classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi, which works a little on and off. They are also air-conditioned. Sports, and curricular activities are indeed available, there is a very big ground. There is a gym, carrom board room, table tennis room, badminton court and throw court. NCC is one of the most prestigious things about this institution. Many Cadets from your have gone for many international youth exchange programs. There is a moot court association, debate society, MUN club, legal aid clinic which has student based management governed by the faculties of the university.

Admission into state universities are actually a big deal. National law universities are of course respected, but when it comes to Tamil Nadu as such, TNNLU is in Tiruchirapalli and the geographical condition of the college is not very feasible and neither the Bench of Madras High Court is at Trichy. Despite securing a seat there, my first priority was always given to School of Excellence in law, Tamil Nadu, Dr Ambedkar Law University. Considering the meritorious cut-off of the university, which stands at 95.0 and have been increasing for the past 10 years, and that most of alumni of this college have had their seats at various High courts and the Supreme Court itself, very importantly, the convenient timings, which lets me intern during my college days itself, I considered SoEL, TNDALU. Please note that this institution does not have any entrance examination, but only is based upon your 12th Standard Marks.

The faculty to student ratio stands at 50:1. Faculties are mostly guest lecturers or Research Scholars here. You'd be lucky if you get assigned with HODs and Senior Professors here. There shall be 10 Semesters with 2 per year with minimum 5 papers each Semester ranging to a max of 7 papers. The Evaluation here is a little something which has to be worked on, as the students of this State University find it "extremely" difficult to compete with the students of Private Universities who come up with a "9.1/10" or "8.5/10". The maximum you'd get here is a "7.6/10". So, if you plan on doing Masters here itself too, you'd not be able to get in, because the Masters Cut off goes high because of the other private applicants. The suggestion is simple, for Litigation and Practice or Civil Services (Any place where your UG mark does not matter), consider dropping by here. For anyone who finds their future as an academician (who needs masters) or anything, you might have to reconsider.
