Chandigarh University- Review

The course curriculum is very outdated as often the case with our education system. Not much emphasis is given on teaching students hands on. More emphasis is given on theory which is not very helpful especially for the computer science students.

The placement before my batch was fairly well compared to a private university but in my batch recession was on peak so very less placements happened. Most of my batchmates were unplaced. Although things are expected to get well in the coning years. Out of 6000 thousand nearly 4000 remained unplaced. Although due to recession many tech giants didn't come to the campus for placement. Luckily I got placed in TCS and currently working as a systems engineer.

When I joined the university back in 2020 the fee per semester was 80 thousand along with the hostel fee of 1 lakh for a year. The fee although from then has significantly increased and now it is around 1.30 lakh per semester for the B.E program. Although one can get scholarship by giving the Cuet exam, which is CU entrance exam. The hostel fee too has increased and is around 1.20-1.30 lakh per year depending on whether you opt for AC or Non-Ac accommodation.

The campus life is very great. The campus is very big. One can get all kinds of facilities within the campus. Alot of festivals keep happening within the campus and often celebrities come to the campus to promote their stuff. Different workshops and cultural events are organised at regular intervals.

Due to high number of students, only 4 seaters and 5 seaters room are available as they need to accommodate every student. The meal quality is okay though not very great. For hostel one needs to opt for hostel during the admission process. Most students opted for PG's near the campus as hostel rooms weren't available due to a large crowd. For PG one needs to go to kharar which is nearby the university.

I applied to this college as I couldn't clear my JEE exam and during the time it was covid time and this was one of the private universities whose fee was not high as compared to other private universities. The admission provess is fairly simple. Students need to give an entrance test called CUET. Based on the marks obtained in the exam, scholarships are generated.

The faculty is not very good as often the case witn private universities. Very average I would say. One needs to study and explore stuff on their own. The faculties are often not updated on the latest technologies and follow the same outdated curriculum. There are two monthly exams in each semesters. These two monthly exams called MSTs along with surprise test and two assignments take up the internal marks. At the end of every semester there is a final exam. The marks combined form the final grade of the students. The exams are relatively easy and mostly theory based.
