What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the strong placements and opportunities for coding competitions at Galgotias.
- The faculty is knowledgeable, but some focus too much on theory.
- The infrastructure is decent, but facilities need better maintenence
Dislikes
- What I didn’t like about Galgotias is the overcrowding, especially in the CS department, making it harder to get individual attention.
- The placement percentage isn’t as high as expected, with only a portion of students landing top roles. Some facilities, like labs and classrooms, feel outdated and could use improvements
Course Curriculum Overview
I will rate the course curriculum as pretty good overall. The subjects like AI and Web Development definitely influenced my choice to pursue this course. It prepares us decently for real-world jobs, but I think we need more hands-on projects and maybe some guest lectures from industry folks. For improvement, some teachers just read from slides, which can be boring. We have two main exams and two internal assessments each semester. They’re usually manageable, but sometimes it feels like the concepts are rushed. A little more focus on practical skills would help a lot.
Internships Opportunities
As a second-year student at Galgotias, I haven't had a chance for internships yet, but I know many companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro visit the campus offering roles such as Software Developer Interns and Data Analyst Interns. I've heard from some seniors about some exciting projects, like developing web applications or working on data analysis tasks. They mentioned that these internships often provide stipends and real-world experience that are invaluable. I’m looking forward to applying for internships in my upcoming semester to gain practical experience and enhance my skills.
Placement Experience
The placements at Galgotias are quite good overall. Students become eligible for campus placements starting in the 6th semester, which gives us time to build our skills. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Accenture frequently visit, and there are usually a good number of offers made each year. The highest package last year was around 30 LPA from a big tech firm, while the average package was about 5-6 LPA. I’d say around 80-85% of students get placed, which is pretty encouraging. As for my plans after graduation, I'll be looking to land a job in software development for about 2 to 3 year to recover from financial conditions and then to pursue a master’s degree in a specialized area like AI or Data Science if I get appurtunity. I want to keep learning and growing in the field, no matter which path I take
Fees and Financial Aid
For the B.Tech CSE 2023 batch at Galgotias University, the fees are as follows Tuition fee Rs149000/year Caution fee Rs2000 (nonrefundable) once examination fee Rs 15000 Scholarships: Merit-cum-Need (up to 50%), government scholarships for SC/ST/OBC, and sports quota benefits. And UP government scholarship for UP students having income below 4lacks
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life at Galgotias has been pretty great. There’s a vibrant social scene, especially during events like Prarambh (the official fresher’s party) and various film promotions or star visits throughout the year. We also have annual festivals like G-Quasar and Techfest and several hacathon, usually held in September and March The library is well-stocked with a good range of books and journals, making it easy to find resources for projects and assignments. Classrooms are equipped with tech like projectors and smart boards, which help make learning more interactive. Sports and extracurriculars are also a big part of campus life. We have facilities for basketball, football, and even a gym. There are student-run clubs for coding, robotics, and arts, which really enhance the campus experience and sense of community.
Admission
I chose Galgotias over other colleges mainly because of its strong placement record and the reputation of the CS program. I applied to LPU for a BCA, but I didn’t take admission there since the fees were way higher than I expected. I also looked at a couple of other local colleges like AKGEC, but their placement stats didn’t look as good. I got rejected from a few colleges because my entrance scores(and Jee mains score) weren’t enough for their cutoffs. It was a bit disappointing, but I’m glad it worked out here. The admission process at Galgotias was pretty straightforward. You need to have a minimum of 60% in your 12th grade PCM, and they accept various entrance exams, but the CUET is the most preferred. The cutoff for UPSEE was around 50%, and the whole experience was decent. They were helpful during the process, which made it less stressful. Overall, I’m happy with my choice, but I think keeping fees lower at some other colleges would make a huge difference for students.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:70, so it’s hard to get personal attention. Most teachers are approachable and helpful, but some just read off PPTs. The best faculty I’ve had are those who really explain concepts and encourage discussions. However, the PPS teacher in the 1st semester wasn’t great I can't name any The teaching was rushed, and we couldn’t understated the basics well. There are 2 main exams—mid and end semester—with 2 internal assessments. About 75% of students pass, and the exams are manageable if you stay regular. The curriculum is decent but could be more practical.
