Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The relevance of the course curriculum is solely based on the aim you have after completing the course. It's a very well versed type, has everything in it. Chemical engineering papers, biology papers, industrial engineering papers. It will be based on the students' interests. The comprehensiveness of those papers might be hard. But with hard work any student can get good marks

Placement Experience

3

Placements for Biotechnology department is very bad, but I got placed though. The number of companies come is 2 or 3. But if u get selected to those companies, then it's fine. But it's really hard to get into those companies. Zifo, some medical coding companies will come. Some of my friends placed in IT companies. You can attend for job placements irrespective of the field you're coming from. Other departments get numerous placement opportunities, so it's fine if someone wants to pursue in different field opportunities

Fees and Financial Aid

The first year of the B.Tech. Biotechnology, they will ask you to pay extra donation amount along with the actual fee of 185000, this is only for B.Tech. Biotechnology. The donation amount might vary yearly admissions. The management via admission will require you to pay 10000 upfront but if you are coming through Anna University counseling, then you needn't. For the remaining 2nd till 4th year, you'll be paying the normal fees. If you are in your first graduation scholarship eligibility, you could get a 50000 scholarship help. And there's also scholarships based on the sports and caste-based ones. This may differ for different courses. The another important thing is, beside from the main fee amount, there'll be 6500 payment for the even semesters and 4200 for the odd semesters. If you're interested in extracurriculars there are several clubs, Rotaract, yuva, NSS, NCC, IEEE clubs. For my department, the staffs were kind and excellent.

Campus Life

1.5

The campus life wasn't that good, to be honest. The infrastructure isn't what you will expect. If I want to get into a college solely based on the infrastructure, then this college would be in my last of the list. So I wouldn't recommend this college based on infrastructure, campus life and sports. But the extracurricular activities are very well encouraged and promoted in the college

Admission

I have applied to Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Sathyabama University, St Joseph Engineering college. But I chose Jeppiaar Engineering college, because, for my department, Biotechnology department, the staffs were good, they gave enough freedom for us to pursue our various interests. They'll promote more for you to attend workshops and internships outside of the campus, and I think that's really important for an undergraduate at this current situation for engineering job market

Faculty

3

As I have done my engineering bachelor's in Biotechnology, the course was on the 2017 regulation. But as of now, the Anna University changed to 2021 regulations, there aren't that much of a change, it's just the change of subjects scheduled in different semesters. The chemical engineering papers of this degree is the most tough ones, it needs vigorous hard work for good marks, and the biology papers are very interesting and fascinating. The first year will be in science and humanities, so it will be alright. The faculty are good, and they'll provide all the required notes before the exam properly.

Other Applied Colleges

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Biotechnology)

The fee was 2.5 lakhs plus

Placement Experience:

In my college placement start from 7th semester, students get eligible to sit in drives. Many companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro and some core firms visited and gave good no of offers. Highest package was around 10 LPA and average near 4.5 LPA depending on profile, mostly software dev, testing and few core engineer role. Around 70% students got placed last year, rest go for higher studies or other prep. My plan after finishing degree is to first try campus offer then aim for higher studies if I not satisfied. Overall placement is decent but still more core companies should come.

Course Curriculum Overview:

ECE is a core subject in the upcoming technologies like the semiconductor field etc. which is why I chose this branch. VIT has a lot of labs and equipment that enables a person to learn and grasp practical knowledge faster. The teaching methods include using a PPT and using a white board . Sometimes flip classes are done when students explain topics. The 2nd open book test is the toughest in difficulty level when compared to exam 1 and the final test.
