Admission to the college is based on a merit list through a cut-off process. The Biotechnology course, chosen by the student with career aspirations in the food science field, initially followed the 2017 regulations but was updated to align with Anna University's 2021 regulations. The college's infrastructure may be lacking, but its teaching staff is commendable, despite the resignation of over 15 lecturers due to low admissions. Courses in chemical engineering are demanding, while biology courses are more engaging.
The first year includes a mix of science and humanities subjects. Fees are a concern, with first-year students paying 25,000 rupees for books and other expenses and an additional 1,500 rupees each semester. The tuition fee is 185,000 rupees, with extra charges of 6,500 rupees for even semesters and 4,200 rupees for odd semesters. Placement opportunities vary, with Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) departments having better prospects than core departments like Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical, Biotechnology, and Aeronautical.
The Biotechnology department faces challenges, with only 2 or 3 companies, such as Zifo and medical coding firms, offering jobs. However, students can attend job placements in IT companies regardless of their field. Scholarships up to 50,000 rupees are available based on need, sports achievements, and caste. First-generation college students may receive additional financial assistance. Students admitted through Anna University counseling are exempt from a 10,000 rupee management fee. The institution encourages extracurricular participation through clubs like Rotaract, Yuva, NSS, NCC, and IEEE.
