- Located in state capital which makes it one of the top preferred Government university.
- Software & Circuit branches have a very good placement drive.
- Autonomous and competes with some of the NITs as well.
Dislikes
- Surroundings & Buildings are very poorly constructed. Very bad streets inside campus.
- Lack of co-ordination among seniors and juniors.
- No proper organisation of extra-curricular activities and fests.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I take is bachelor of technology in mechanical engineering and course outcomes are very specific and to the point. the professors in our department are easygoing and well-trained in their special department. Mechanical is technical and fun and it's my ease.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual fees are Rs. 36,400 for core branches & Rs. 70,800 for Self-sustaining Cources. The hostel charges are Rs. 18,000. Other than that there's convocation fees of Rs. 1,500. The fees are less for TFW and EWS quotas. There's lot of scholarship programs based on merits or for socially & economically backwards sections.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty ghetto here. Infrastructure is under-developed. There's no proper buildings for anything. Classrooms floods in monsoons. Summers are disastrous as well. The main gate is broken & there's no fix entrances. Transport facilities are horrible as well. NO EVENTS OR FEST AND STUDENTS CLUBS ARE INCESTIOUS. not one single positive annotation for campus life i'm sorry.
Admission
I applied for VSSUT, Burla but did not go because of it's remote location & heavy ragging problems. I found CET a better option in that department. I did not get rejected by any college btw. Admission process in our uni simple btw. just show up with notified documents & get verified. JEE scores are accepted for admissions.
Faculty
I would say there are around 4-5 senior professors, around 8-12 assistant professors & rest 10-12 contractual faculties for every branch. Some faculties are very understanding and approachable but some egoistic faculties make it very difficult to approach them. There are 2 exams per semester (The mid-sem of 20 marks and end-sem of 60 marks + quiz and assignments for rest 20 marks). Exams are lowkey ghetto.
