A comprehensive review of College Experiences in Loyola

The examination system is very fair and the teaching method of the faculty too is also satisfying. However, the department does not provide a lot of opportunities for the students to engage in any activities academically or co-curricularly. It needs to provide many placements and scholarships to the students.

I have not experienced any kind of placement drives or scholarships for our department personally. Other departments are however very active. The history department personally needs a lot of improvement in terms of providing placements.

The college has a very much active placement cell which starts providing placement from the last semester itself. However, in my personal opinion the placements offered for history department were very less. We were not able to meet the eligibility requirements. It was very beneficial to the science and commerce background students. There were huge companies visiting the campus but like I mentioned it was specially for other departments so I donot have any experience with the placement cell.

The fees which I paid for my course was 22,360 rupees on a yearly basis for tuition fees and for hostel I had paid one lakh for a year. For students from Shift 2, History Department was only the tuition fees which I've mentioned above. Other than that we have paid for examination fees which was around 1900. Besides, we donot have to pay for laboratory fees as our course does not require any laboratory access and no other extra payment. Shift 1 students' fees were quite less as their course was aided which means that it was semi government and hence the tuition was much less.

Loyola College is known for extra curricular from dance groups to sports, it is very much active. There's a huge programme called Ovations which is held every year and is celebrated on a large scale inviting many Tollywood actors and directors. Many South Indian festivals are also celebrated on a large scale in the college.

The hostel no doubt is excellent with many facilities like gym, tennis ground, ac rooms and sumptuous meal, however, the fees is not justified at all as the breakage of fees is not at all clear. They keep asking for separate amount for no reason. We have faced a lot of problems during our stay.

I had not applied for any other college and had just opted for Loyola College, Chennai as it ranks among the top colleges in India. I donot regret the decision I made as it truly makes the experience studying in the college much more memorable and worth it. From the huge 92 acres of the campus, one can explore many things in the campus, from the excellent infrastructure, huge library, many cuisine cafeteria and the great faculty, it truly is an experience of a lifetime. I may have problem with placement from my department, however, placement activities with other departments is quite well.

The examination and marking system is very fair and based on merit and is not at all partial. The faculty members of all the departments are highly qualified with mostly holding doctorate degrees and a number of conferences are held every now and then based on the department's interest. However, having personal experience as I was part of the History Department, it really needs a lot of improvement in terms of academic activities.
