Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum at VIT is generally relevant and comprehensive for the most part, but it also has areas that can be improved. I chose my course because it has many industry-relevant courses, often updated to cover all the latest discoveries and findings. The curriculum taught ensures to include lots of real-world applications that help us ensure we use them in our jobs or internships. they also help prepare us to an international standard to prepare us for pursuing higher studies abroad. Vit has a very flexible curriculum that can be personally tailored to each student in the form of the numerous electives being offered to the fact that no two students will have the exact same timetable. Research opportunities are also plenty in VIT but you haver to show interest and approach the faculty yourself.
Internships Opportunities
Vit offers numerous internship opportunities to its students through numerous tie-ups with companies and industry collaborations. Microsoft: Software development intern Amazon: SDE interns TCS:IT consultant intenrs cognizant:Software engineering intern
Placement Experience
Vit is known for its Placements where a lot of MNCs come to recruit a lot of us such as: TCS, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cognizant, Infosys, Intel, L & T, Wipro. Vit typically sees hundreds of companies. Most students get multiple offers depending on their performance in the interviews. For the 2024 Batch, the highest package crossed 1 cr per annum while the avg package is and 6-7LPA Profiles offered: Software developer, Data scientist, AI/ML engineer, Consultant, Project manager, and System engineer. Vit Chennai has 90-95% of students get placed every year. I plan to skip the placements and pursue higher studies in abroad.

Campus Life
Vit has a vibrant and engaging campus life, which combines academics with a rich blend of social, cultural, and extracurricular activities. We have annual and tech fests like the RIVIERA: Vits annual cultural fest typically held in February it is one of the largest fests in south India with lots of A-list celebrities attending. GRAVITAS: This is VITS annual tech fest, held in September it's a hub for tech enthusiasts and includes a lot of robotic competitions and coding challenges. These help students take a break from academics and showcase their talents. The library has a big range of books and journals with multiple copies of each to en\sure availability there also many study spaces that have quiet zones to encourage studying
Hostel Facilities
Vit has lots of hostel blocks with different room types: 2 beds 4 beds and 6 beds with ac and non options all the rooms come with beds and desks with chairs for studying Meal options include both veg and non-veg options with multiple caterers to choose from meal quality is good with a bit of fluctuation in the overall taste and quality. Every meal comes with Sambar.
Admission
I applied to other colleges in India such as: BITS Manipal institute of technology ARM VIT I got admission into VIT, SRM, and MIT Manipal, But unfortunately, I couldn't make it to BITS. I chose VIT over the options due to a plethora of reasons such as: Ranking and reputation: It is ranked 2nd in the country in private colleges and for the major, I chose it has outstanding faculty the flexible curriculum is also very convenient The infrastructure and campus life offered at VIT are state of art and can't be compared with other colleges like SRM and Manipal. My JEE exam went wrong: Overconfidence in certain topics and not dedicating enough time to mock tests. Also, the intense pressure of preparing for JEE led to a burnout, which affected me in the later stages
Faculty
Ther faculty-student ratio is decent but can vary over different courses and programs. At VIT due to being a large uni with big intakes lot of first-year classrooms are very big but they use mics and PPTs to cover for this. The faculties are often approachable especially if you show interest in the subject and take initiative. One sir I like is John A Vincent sir who teaches Technical English for us, He makes every class very interactive and makes learning fun and easy to follow. I don't like Sarvana Kumar because he is unnecessarily strict and is always waiting a lot of class time scolding us. He also does very strict corrections and his teaching is just reading from a power point rather than explaining. There a lot of exams every month CATS that are important as they carry 15% weightage in your final grade they are relatively difficult but if you study and give it your best it is manageable.
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
Because VIT is higher ranked(2nd in the country)
