- CAMPUS LIFE : The girls to boys ratio is 1:3.The Atmosphere at ULC is very lively as events like Moot court competition, sports, annual function, etc takes place throughout the year.
Dislikes
- INFRASTRUCTURE : Though we have newly opened Network Resource Centre, yet it is non operational and students have no access to Manuputra and other information oriented websites.
- LACK OF PERMANENT FACULTY : At the end of every year, tussle for recruitment of new guest faculty begins which results in loss of time of students.
- NO MOOT COURT COMMITTEE : Core committee is very important for the betterment of students yet our institution has no Moot committee, no Adr committee or not even a literary committee.
Course Curriculum Overview
The thing that impressed me the most was the design of law papers of every year. It begins with substantive laws followed by procedural and concluding with major laws like Specific Relief act and banking laws. Demerit of the structure is it has not been updated since 2014. Improvements are required like BCI has asked law schools to include cyber laws in there curriculum which is yet to be implemented. The frequency of exams is twice in a year and the timing for each paper in mid semester is 30 minutes and in semester is 3 hours.
Internships Opportunities
Students have easy access to various governmental organisation like State Commission for Women,Odisha Human Rights Commission, State Election Commission, etc. Students do take up internships under the guidance of various advocates at Orissa High Court and many do apply as judicial interns at the District and sessions court, Khurdha. Students do paid internships at various law firms too.
Placement Experience
From 5th year, students become eligible for campus placements. Top law firms like Trilegal and Juristech have come for Placements and from corporate companies like Skoda and Tata among others have started hiring students from our college with an average package of 4LPA. 80% Students get placements. I want to qualify OJS after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
BALLB. Hons at University Law College is a 5 year course having an annual fees of 45000/- per annum. The total fees for complete course at the end of five years stands at 225000/-. There is no direct scholarship that could provide concession on tution fees. Yet students can apply for other scholarship like DBT, Medhabruti, Shramik Yojana , etc that comes under the purview of the Government Of Odisha. Readmission for every year takes place at a regular interval of two semesters. Students need to pay an amount of 960/- towards exam registration fees before each semester. YES,THE FEES HAS INCREASED SO FAR.
Campus Life
Campus life at ULC is awesome. Students can have a wide variety of extra curricular activities like mooting, mediation, sports and culture, etc. Every year students get an opportunity to show their talents in various events taking place during annual week.

There is no boys hostel. The girls hostel has 2 floors. The ground floor has 7 rooms including a spacious hall with water cooler and 24*7 free wi-fi. There are 4 bathrooms and 4 indian toilets. The 1st floor has 8 rooms including the warden's room, RO Water purifier and 24*7 free wi-fi. There are 4 bathrooms and 4 western toilets. Each room has 2 tubelights,2 fans, shelves, tables and chairs for each. The hostel has no canteen. Selection of hostelers is based on the merit and distance basis. The hostel fees is 18k per year.
Admission
I had applied for- Christ University, Bangalore in which I had been selected through interview. Lucknow central university, Lucknow in which i had been selected through entrance. Falta law college, West Bengal in which i had been selected through entrance. I preferred ULC over any other college in the State because of it's past record of producing great results in OJS exam. Students have a flexible college timing from 8 am to 1pm after which you can prepare for competitive exams. I didn't get rejected from the other colleges as i have already mentioned that i was selected in all but due to the fees structure and long distance, me and my parents were reluctant. Admission from 2024 onwards takes place through SAMS Odisha website where students have to provide their higher secondary marksheet and they will be selected based on their scores and merit with a minimum percentile of 65%.
Faculty
There is only one permanent faculty at our institution who is also our principal Mr. S.N. Mallick. Teachers are very approachable throughout the year. Student teacher ratio is a concern. Every faculty gives there best at are best in there subjects. There are a total of 10 semesters in the 5 years course. Each year having 2 semesters 2 mid semesters and 2 vivas. The exams are moderate with passing percentage of 90%. The course curriculum is quite relevant.
