Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is structured in a very organised and efficient way so that students have enough grasp on the subjects and are able to comprehend on a conceptual level. Also, ample time is given to to the curriculum as per the given norms by NMC.

Internships Opportunities

4

After the 4.5 years of MBBS are completed, the students will have to complete 1 year of Internship at the Kodagu District Hospital, and will have rounds in every department like Surgery, Casualty, Medicine, OB/GYN, Paediatrics etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

61000 was the fees we paid to KEA via the state quota. Additional fees summed up to be around 19000 to the college which included fees for tution. The fees is same for everyone as it is govt college and seat is based on merit.

Campus Life

3.5

There are many festivals and college fests celebrated enthusiastically every year like Ganesh Chaturthi, Kannada Rajyotsav. My particular one in favourite is the College Day and Dussehra celebrated in the town. There is a central library housed with all kinds of books required for a medical student, and you can easily issue them using the library card. There is a also a digital library, a reading room for students. Also, there are many student run clubs, and camps organised that train students in many different ways to make them adapt to different environments.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

After the admission process is completed, a hostel room is soon allocated. Each room has 3 students(some have 2 depending on the location of the room). The rooms have a separate attached bathroom, a cupboard, cot and study table. The mess food is decent.

Admission

Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences was placed number 6th on my preference choice list in KEA. I chose this college over others because of its ambient atmosphere and its beautiful climate. Recommendations from few other trusted people also influenced my decision. To get admission, one gets to get the required cutoff rank in the NEET exam conducted annually for medical courses. The cutoff varies depending on the categories .

Faculty

4

The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced and passionate. There are three internal examination conducted within every two to three months based on which you get eligible for university examinations. Almost all students pass the exams provided they have enough attendance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very comprehensive and relevant for exams but not for real world applications. I feel let the parts of body I was specially fascinating so I like anatomy very much and we also got a very good teacher, the curriculum is very good for examinations however the real wall applications of this curriculum is very little, they should be more real life applications and whatever the latest technology than studies are happening the student should get the latest info about them, timing between two exams in an internal semester should be a little more such as a day or two because we do not get time to prepare the subjects curriculum very well for the examination.

Same curriculum as the NMC is followed . In the beginning ears there wont be much exposure clinically like any other hospitals later on in 3rd amd 4th year there is more clinical exposure and patient interaction. According to me the exam level of 1st year is a bit tough as it is a changing phase from 12th to college and everything is new later on we get adjusted and find it easy and will understand how to phase the exam and how it is different from the previous exams of 11th or 12th . Only one exam will be for a academic year which includes the whole syllabus of that year
