Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

Actually I had applied for the main University campus but due to some reasons i have to choose this college. This college needs lot of improvement like new facility members and lab facilities. The faculty should contain the new trained staff mainly lab assistants

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid 72000 as college fees during my session but earlier it was 5800 only. But during our session it got increased. The scholarship plans are also available there. As it is a government college which is affiliated by Punjabi University Patiala.

Campus Life

5

The infrastructure structure is good but requires renovation. There are lots of technical activities which are held like seminars, quizzes and placement talks . Furthermore in sports cricket match is held every year by students.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facility is best here. The main thing is that one can easily afford it. One have to pay 5000 per year only. And this payment is done in two halfs. Warden is also of very good nature. And the mess facilities are also outstanding. One have to pay 2100 every month for mess charges in that they get 3 meals in a day. This 2100 charges is apart from hostel charges.

Admission

The admission process is so simple here. Anyone can apply here based on their board percentage. And one can get easily admitted. The admission process was different before Corona but now it's so simple. Earlier students had to take exams and after that, they had some group discussion rounds, and based on that they got admission but now it's not so.

Faculty

2.5

If I talk about the exams and subjects ,every semester there are minimum 4-5 exams after every 6 months. The faculty is good but they are very old and not prepare themselves according to the advanced technologies emerging now a days. They focus more on theoritical portion not on practical work and due to this reason they don't get placements.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges - [CGC] Landran, Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
