Remarks

For career-oriented students, if you are looking for an option that is probably inclined to career and job assurance to high numerical percentages, this is the best option for you. Also if you look forward to taking a nostalgic book of memories of your college life, this is the institution that grants you mixed experiences altogether.

Entrance Preview

The reason is that this college is renowned for its assured and best quality placement facilities extended to students throughout the north region and still holds hundreds and thousands of its students successfully working in top class MNCs across India. Also, it offers the much-awaited college life that an average Indian student always aspires for.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is followed as per PTU guidelines as per my experience, the curriculum was outdated to most of its extent and much of theoretical than practical and industrial knowledge needed. Curriculum needs to be strictly updated in accordance to present industrial needs and upcoming advancement in technologies and should examination criteria should even turn out to be more practical and code based rather than scribbling down the papers.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, during my batch, many companies came forward to recruit students and offer a stipend based internship at their organization like Wipro recruited around 300 candidates out of which 150-200 of them were offered an internship at Pune with a stipend of Rs. 18000 after which all the students were assessed for their learning during the tenure and filtered out for job continuation. Also, many other local startups extended the opportunity for the same.

Placement Experience

5

I would say the excellent of all job and placement opportunities only rest assured with CGC. The entire administration and a designated placement cell stringently and thoroughly look into the recruitment process every year and invests huge amounts of money to welcome hundreds of top companies to the campus almost reaching a target of 100% placement every time and an assured one wherein students do tend to get offer and call letters within a short span of time. The handsome number of students are successfully placed and working with top rated organizations till date.

College Events

5

The most fascinating and popular of all event is the annual fest- Parivartan that stand outstanding of all colleges and visitors from many distant colleges even rush to get passes for the same. It's a huge techno-cultural fest that takes place at a large scale and invites renowned Punjabi cinema singers, politicians to address and motivate youth, stall arrangement for games and fun activities, adventure zone activities, Mr. and Ms. Parivartan contest and much much more. Apart from this many inter-college sports tournaments take place and within college activity clubs like Kerberos have been made to indulge students in co-curricular activities and volunteering responsibilities to add other skills to them. Flash mobs are a common entity and are organized across various tourist places like the elance mall, NCM etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee-structure is averagely feasible depending upon the financial status of the student and family deciding to go by the option if CGC. But as compared to many private universities, its much much affordable with a complete package of success and entertainment assured. During our batch, it was around 43k per semester tuition fee and 30k per semester hostel fee but then again there exist many scholarship quotas that you may inquire from the student desk.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven’t personally availed any scholarship but yeah I came across once with the knowledge of sports quota scholarship offered under which you need to prove state level or district level sports qualification certificate and you commit to perform for the college contests throughout your tenure, hence they strike down some amount from your tuition fee.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio is good and healthy almost an equal number of boys and girls seek admissions into this college, campus life is amazing and worth cherishing lifetime. Extracurricular activities as I mentioned there are many opportunities like activity clubs, flash mobs, annual fest etc and similar for sports tournaments like basketball, volleyball etc do happen to take place, labs have a good infrastructure but competitions like debates we never came across. Yeah, project planning and competitions at district and state level for entrepreneurs do take place.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facilities and food had been amazingly awesome except for the nature of administration it has got, I believe hostel infrastructure and facilities like food l, snacks, wifi, hot water during winters and coolers during summers, lush green lawns inside with swings and playing area nets, mini confectionary within to get items from and late night exam time snack and coffee minivan inside forms an outstanding part of planning but wardens are really rude, harsh and non cooperative rather many a times inhuman and insensible towards personal and living problems of girls which makes it harsh to adapt to hostel for a longer period of time.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is not that strong I believe as there happens to be only a convocation by which means alumni are invited to gather together and cherish the student life apart from which alumni planning never gets to be seen. They are not really helpful but just a token of reliving college life for a day or so.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is like it happens semester-wise and exam date sheet and all related coordinations are done via PTU ie Punjab Technical University under which exams tend to take place twice a year somewhere around April-May month and the next being in Nov-Dec month that includes internal assessments by college faculty, external assessments by cross-college authorities and written exams of subjects. Apart from this 3 monthly sessional tests take place out of which 2 are mandatory to attempt and the marks obtained counts in the internal assessment process as the average marks obtained in two of them.

Admission

Admission to this college happens to take place in two modes the one being, counseling based on JEE pre-ranks and the other mode is direct admissions based on 10th and 12th standard scores of students referred to as management quota on a paid basis. My rank being higher, I had to go by an option of direct admission under management quota with a fund payment of Rs.XX thousand.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty of college is averagely satisfying since most of the teachers are just passing down written form of notes for the students to clear their exam and not dedicated towards the conceptual building of minds. They themselves have no clear picture of what are they teaching many times but there are exceptionally good teachers as well but a few in number.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
