What Students Say
Likes
- I really liked learning in the Electrical Workshop. The Smithy Shop and the Welding Shop were my favourites. The Faculty there, were truly very enthusiastic and not stressful. The Electrical Workshop helps us to learn the hands on skills, of labour.
- I liked the Cultural Fiesta, which is an Annual Event, where different Artistic, Technical and Sport Activities were prevalent. My favourites were Jam, Debate, Artwork, Basketball, Skits and Corner Plays, Creative Writing Sessions, Onstage activities
- I liked the beautiful diversity and greenery of my University, different departments, crossing one another, everyone is friendly with one another. No unnecessary mess, during the class sessions, and there were not any such restrictions while we skip.
Dislikes
- I did not like the high fees structure, which surrounded with our Course, as Btech is a vast expanded course, that requires more practical skill mastery, rather than theoretical study. I think the fees structure must be revised for deserving students
- The Faculty were pretty knowledgeable, but I guess they did not put their knowledge into full action. Only a few Teachers focused upon enlightening the students with profitable learning. The use of resources and knowledge is indeed must for such.
- In comparision to the high fees structure, I realised that the internship and campus placement opportunities were not adequate, to amass all the departments and their students. A Company Campus Pool is not something for both Commerce and Engineering
Course Curriculum Overview
Electrical Engineering is a solid growing field in all areas. Thus, subjects included in the Course Curriculum were appropriate. In the starting phase, we had common subjects, which also included subjects that were unnecessary for a semester's study. Certain subjects in the coming years were open to get elected for and to opt, which I presume, that a few of them required to be made mandatory rather than put to choice. The Software and Manual Skills in Electrical Engineering can be utilised in all other fields of Engineering, as Electrical Engineering has that fluidity. The Current Crisis of Power Transmission and Distribution on an even basis and the Unknown Faults that appear due to disturbance in the systems requires skilled force & keen understanding, with problem solving criterion, for which an adept knowledge and experience in Electrical is must for building infrastructure. Except the Annual Exams, the midsems, improvements were meaningless. More focus towards practical analysis.
Placement Experience
Placements are both on and off-campus based. Placements are usually common for both IT and Non-IT students, Technical or Non-Technical. Students become eligible, in their final years to pursue internships or acquire placements. Usually students from Computer Science and Engineering avail more placement opportunities. The Medical Department have more options of Employability. Companies like HCL, Byju's, Extramarks, IBM and other local companies like Stambh Power Systems, Pieinfocomm and others have arrived. But the placement ratio needs to be increased. Off-Campus Placements are more successful. Highest Package can be 8lpa CTC to average package be 2.5lpa CTC, with profiles of assistance and associates. Atleast 30% students get placed on average. My plans are based on Learning in different ways.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees, in comparision of the course was pretty high, based semester-wise. In the recent years, there is an increase in the tuition fees, probably because of inflation, international students accomodation and curriculum amendments. For each year, the tuition fees for Electrical Engineering was 70000 inr for one sem, 50000 inr for another sem. Total of which includes around 5 lacs approx for full course. There were scholarships available for minorities and SC/STs, for which certain documents were required to verify to be eligible for the same. Financial Aids, I am unaware of, but some times, semester fees of certain students could have exempted, knowing their situations or the fine imposed on the same. Campus Employment is available, mainly for graduates left or students pursuing PhD or higher education. I am not aware of any student, pursuing undergraduation or have just completed, gets employed. Usually master graduates or beyond.
Campus Life
We have had Cultural Fiesta, that happened annually. International Summits and Inter-College Events were prevalent for greater bonding and cooperation. The Library was wonderful. Indeed one of the Best Ones in India. All fields and all genre books were available, mainly academic and news based. Classrooms were well equipped, but old-school kind of. We do have smart screen and projector labs and hall based classes for huge strength. The Practical Labs have more technological provisions with machines and software systems. Sports include on-ground, off-ground both, badminton, basketball, tennis, and volleyball, football and cricket. We did have All sorts of Technical and Non-Technical Events, Artistic-Non Artistic. There were different clubs such as Literary Club, Robotics Club, Writing Club, Mechanical Club, Singing Club and so on.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel Fees was a bit high too. We have triple occupancy, double occupancy and single occupancy rooms, with fan, bed and wardrobe and a desk-chair provided mandatorily. Any other resources, one can accomodate themselves.Rooms were fine, neither very dirty nor very tidy. The ventilation was good. Cleaning is done by self. There were two washroom compounds on one floor. Meal Quality and menu was good. On one day, Chicken is served with panneer curry for veg alternative. Four time meal is served, including tea-time. The Hostel is attached with the University. Thus all registration and payment needs to be done through the Account Sections of the University. The Price of Lodging and Food is pretty much as compared to local room lodges, but it was satisfactory. We did have a basketball court or ground for playing and walking around.
Admission
Admission Process requires an Entrance Test, officially acclaimed by the University. Students who have attempted state level competitive exams or subject based national level exams, are preferred too. Anyone who has cleared their 10th or 12th can apply. Application form is available online, or one can collect it from the campus, can fill and submit it there itself. Application fees is standard, but depends upon the type of course exam opted. Reservation do have some benefits, and if the parent or relation is the alumus of the same University, then it also works. The Counselling after the Exam and Selection requires more Serious work, I realise. It must not be just collecting the semester fees in advance. It needs more ground work. The exam occurs once a year, usually after central colleges and govt colleges have completed their screening. Admission process requires more seriousness.
Faculty
The Faculty members were good, cooperative and understanding towards all students. There were certain Faculty Members from different departments, who were a bit cold, aur unresponsive. The Faculty-to-Student Ratio was fine, as our class encompasses 35 students per session on average. I realised inter-departmental stiffness a bit. The Heads were a bit less focused towards the overall growth of the Department and students included. The Activities and Practicals and Pragmatic Learning needed improvement. Certain Subjects required software and hardware assistance, which needed to be taught more thoroughly. The mentorship and guidance was pretty good, the teachers were very interactive and familiar. They understood the skills and potentials of students and try to bring those to work. Only a few Teachers paid less attention towards teaching and more towards assignments and semester papers. But, still the teachers of different departments were neutral. Rest, everything else was wholesome.
Other Applied Colleges
Jamia Millia Islamia University-[JMI] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Engineering)
I did opt for this College, but the Entrance Test Results got cancelled, due to paper leak, and I got the Counselling mail, from Integral University
