Remarks

My unbiased remark would be a neutral outcome. This college has good infrastructure but lacks in Academic results.

Entrance Preview

This college's KCET score requirements were pretty much aligned with my scores. Apart from satisfying the score criteria, this college was within the 5 km radius from my home. Travelling would be easier and also staying at hostel was out of the equation. This is why I chose this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum was designed by the Visvesvaraya Technological University. All the colleges affiliated to it have to follow similar course curriculum. By industry standards the course was lagging a bit and needed to catch up with new emerging technologies. That being said, I would also like to add that the quality of prescribed books were from good authors.

Internships Opportunities

Not that I know of. There was no mention of internship opportunities. In fact I did internship at a startup for about a month, but the Head Of the Department was not much keen on it.

Placement Experience

1

Well, they do send the students to other colleges which host job fairs or on-campus mass hiring. Sometimes one or two companies do visit the college but mostly they turn out to be support opportunities. Mostly student try their luck with off campus hiring methodologies.

College Events

2.5

The events calendar would start with freshers day and conclude with the annual day at the end of the year. In between there used to be cultural celebrations, Sports day, educational competitions etc., once a year there would be a field trip also, but it was subject to the HOD's decision.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since I got admitted through KCET, my yearly fee was decided by the Karnataka government. It was pretty economical, but if a student had to take up a direct admission in the management quota. It would be more expensive. The student had also to pay extra for any add-on facility he/she would opt for.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not come across any scholarship / loan facility offered by the college. There could be some sort of scholarship program but I'm not aware of any such offerings.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is one of the pros of the college. It has got good auditoriums where many cultural and academic programs are hosted. There are big grounds as well which have been used in inter and intra college tournaments. The labs are well equipped and have pretty good capacity to accommodate many students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Well I was a day scholar, So I cannot provide the actual data regarding Hostel facilities but from what I've heard from my friends who stayed in hostel is that it was as any hostel would be. The food was horrible and the hostel rooms were not up to the mark.

Alumni/Alumna

Well, I've been in touch with few of the alumni and senior student's network. Its more of a informal network, so yes its kind of helpful.

Exam Structure

There are n number of internal assessments and practical exams, followed by an final semester examination. Though the final examinations are governed by the VTU university, the internal assessments do hold certain weight in the final result of the students.

Admission

Initial payment was done at the KCET cell on the day of counselling. It was paid in the form of Demand Draft at the bank counter inside KCET cell. Later the fee payment receipt was produced in the college for admission confirmation. Though the college still demands a additional fee for some of the college expenses.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty members were not that constant during the entire tenure of 4 years. They kept changing every year. Some of them were very much experienced and very knowledgeable teachers, whereas few were just out of the college and still trying to figure out how to teach.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our college (NHCE) is affiliated to VTU but it's autonomous college. I like mechanical engineering and my father is also a mechanical engineer which inspired me to mechanical engineering. It is a bit outdated, expect more applications of the concepts. As I said we have exams every month, the frequency is good and the difficulty of exams I mid to easy range.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There course subjects included in each semester is pretty much related to the branch of the student, each course subject has an important role in making the student ready for jobs. Some of the core subjects are necessary for real world applications and in the interviews as well during palcements ,questions have been asked from various subjects. Sometimes the speed of covering the syllabus is fast which makes us mug up the topics which is not beneficial for us because this method doesn't hold any value when it comes to applying it in real life.
