Remarks
PROS: Here you can experience a variety of relations of friends as a crowd is huge. Infrastructure is decent. Few teachers are awesome, I mean very good they have the experience great teaching skills. Campus size is good 52 acres. CONS: Very far from the marketplace around 12km from pari chowk. Don’t have the proper lift, electricity, AC, labs, mess food is bad. Around 30% of teachers don’t have any knowledge of their subject. No one will give you practical skills and proper guidance and hold your hand to guide you. College management sucks in case of maintenance and support.
Entrance Preview
As I don't get admission in any government college because I am not able to qualify their entrance test. I qualified the KIITEE And VITEEE exam but their annual fees are too high to afford for my family. So I searched for the private engineering colleges whose fee structure is such that any middle-class family could afford and I found this one. As the fees are not that low but still it is affordable and low from other reputed private colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
CSE has been the strongest point of Galgotias University. This is because of placement which always floats around 90–100% every year. 30% of faculties are among the best. 50% are mediocre level. 20% of them behave like they don’t know anything and destiny brought them here for teaching. Teaching amenities are in abundance and you’ll never feel short of it. For research, I personally don't think that our curriculum is that good.
Internships Opportunities
Nope, Our college does not provide any kind of internship. The students have to find the internships on their own according to their curriculum.
Placement Experience
Placement always floats around 90–100% every year for the CSE branch, but for other courses, it is quite low. Take a look at 2015 batch and 2016 batch placement stats of Infosys, Wipro and Cognizant. Cognizant indicates recruitment above 400 for 2 years. But for the 2017 batch, it was 142. Infosys also recruited 208 students from 2017 batch and in 2015 the recruited 338 Talking about Wipro, 228 in 2015, 336 in 2016 batch and 65 in my 2017 batch. So the placement got decreased every year, but the university has made some tieups from different IT companies to improve their placement scenario.
College Events
1) Fresher's Party: On entering the college a fresher would come across the very first event i.e. "The Fresher's party". Well, it's a pretty much grand event with competitions like mr.and Mrs fresher accompanied with DJ night. 2) Different clubs Fest: Every individual club organised it's small get together fest where they can put up competitive events according to their club activities. 3) The Unifest: It is the main cultural fest of Galgotias University. It goes on for 2 days and all the cultural competitive events, DJ nights, star/celebrity night, Battle of Bands are organised in this fest. 4) Technical fest(Tech-quasar): It is the technical fest of Galgotias University. Various technical competitive events are organised in this fest. 5) Farewell Party: It is the last event of an academic year in GU.
Fee Structure And Facilities
According to me, The fee structure is pretty much affordable for any middle-class student. At least in comparison with other reputed engineering colleges, the fee is quite low. You can check the official website for the information regarding the fees structure. It’s 1 Lakh and 49 thousand if you want to pursue B.tech in any stream, plus 10 thousand is the examination fee, if you opt for CSE with specialization in gaming or cloud computing or etc, the fees are 1 lakh and 70 thousand, plus 10 thousand is the examination fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
On the website, some scholarship proposals are given on the basis of cgpa u get in the semester exams but in reality, they don't follow it. For UP students there is a government state scholarship is active for the obc students. I don't know much about loans offered by my college so I cannot write about it.
Campus Life
Life here at Galgotias is pretty good. Rules are strict, but a bit of discipline is necessary I guess to keep us running on tracks and anything you do which is against rules will get you in a situation that you won’t like, certainly you’ll speak of that, but leaving negative thoughts I follow the positive ones! No Ragging- I can tell you from my personal experience that you might end up having better bonds rather than your friends. Seniors are amazing and they keep giving you free treats (Just keep asking for it when you see them.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel of GU (only boys hostel), every year they raise the fees without any facility added, in AC rooms they turn off AC at 7:00 a.m and start at 6:30 p.m and A.C starts only after April till September. The lift doesn’t work much of the time, they don’t have free laundry and free WiFi, we have to give money every time, even the gym is paid. The mess is fine sometimes (when they have to present the meal to our faculties), otherwise just edible, somehow. They behave like they’re giving food to beggars. (Beware of the illusion they create when you first come for a survey).
Alumni/Alumna
Our alumni network is not that great in reality but this year our university started with alumni connect program called "alma connect" which is basically a social networking app in which all the alumni can socially connect and help each other. But till now it is not that active and helpful.
Exam Structure
In Galgotias University, Examination structure is pretty much hectic, you have to almost give exams every month end. There are two minor exams names as "CAT" and one major exam "End term exam" i.e. semester end exam. The overall structure is as follows : 1) Evaluation through a semester-end examination. 2) Two Continuous Assessment Tests(CAT). 3) Continuous evaluation by the teacher(s) including Quizzes /assignments /projects /seminars /viva-voce, etc or any other mode to be specified by the course faculty. Btw, you have to attain all the exams to pass for the semester.so it's pretty hectic.
Admission
1) Apply for the admission by filling a form which can be found on their official website- www.galgotiasuniversity.edu.in. 2) After filling out the form and providing necessary details like your details, your father and mother details, your academic details & qualification like 10th and 12th marks, you have to submit the form and pay the registration fees of around 1500rs through any online payment method or through a DD. 3) Then on the basis of your 12th and jee mains marks or percentage, a merit list is prepared and if your name is in the merit list then you are eligible to get admission. 4) Now you have to just carry the original documents for verification and pay the fees. And you are done.
Faculty
Good teachers: 15% Moderate: 30% Bad:55 % they just see degree while recruiting teachers, not their skills. I have heard that teachers just come to gain experience, not reputation. Some of the faculties are really good but most of the south Indian faculties are not up to the mark.
