Course Curriculum Overview

1

In terms of relevance, the Pearl curriculum is splendid, but the BCU curriculum that we do side by side does help us get more hands on skills, but is also completely useless and time wasting. Pearl academy faculty have no time management and make it the students problem

Internships Opportunities

0.5

Nykaa, AJIO, Manish Malhotra, vogue India, etc are some companies that students can intern for Their projects and outcomes rely on the job given to them so it varies from place to place but most of the work is digital based

Placement Experience

1.5

Only one batch has gotten placements from my college as we have only one proper graduating batch. Their placements went okay if I'm not wrong, with some getting placed in companies like nykaa, and ajio. But mostly the placements are not as good as they promise 100% placements but not everyone gets it.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm paying over 6 and a half lakhs per annum for my Fashion Design Course that's integrated with Bangalore City University for my degree. Pearl only provides their own merit-based scholarship but if certain criteria aren't maintained, the students may lose it. Campus doesn't have much to offer, but I am part of the Fashion Society which is a club that focuses on the main team going to competitions outside of college and hosting events. I was also considered for the head of the fashion society but I declined them due to never ending work from my course. Maybe with taxes and the stationary that college does not include, I'd spend around 7.5 lakhs per annum (I need to buy fabrics for garments as well that's why)

Campus Life

1

The clubs are great but they need to have some sort of teacher involvement and they have no funds from college the students fund everything. The events are fun but the infrastructure is horrible. The library is quite nice and we don't have anything amnual we celebrate every event with nothing specially catered for Pearl. We did have portfolio event that showcased all our seniors work right before they graduated though.

Admission

All the information is on their main website Pearlacademy.com The application fees was 1500 and the eligibility is to have 12th pass (or whatever equivalent) Their exam and interview would be held in person and is quite easy as it's only 50 marks

Faculty

2.5

The faculty has great credentials in all honesty, but we have maybe 20 faculties as a whole for around 200-300 students? Most of the faculties focus on one on one mentoring of students which is quite helpful especially as each student is different. Only 2 teachers come to mind who are quite orthodox in teaching methods and are completely unapproachable

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum here feels more practical and idea driven rather than just theory based which was one of the main reasons I chose this course it focuses on design thinking creativity and real execution instead of only textbook learning One of the strongest parts is how it slowly builds your understanding from basics to advanced concepts through projects assignments and presentations this helps in preparing for real world work because you are constantly creating and improving your portfolio rather than just studying for exams The curriculum does prepare you for industry to a good extent especially in terms of creative thinking software usage and project handling but it can improve by including more updated trends real time industry briefs and collaboration with professionals which will make it even more relevant Teaching methods are mostly interactive and practical but sometimes they can include more workshops guest sessions and exposure to current market tools to enhance learning experience Exams are conducted with two internal assessments of around 40 marks each followed by a final semester exam of 70 marks theory and 30 marks practical the difficulty level is moderate if you attend classes and complete your work regularly it is manageable Overall the curriculum is strong in building creative foundation and practical skills but with a few updates and more industry exposure it can become even more effective for future careers

Course Curriculum Overview:

We have really packed timings. We also have a lot of chances. Like an exchange program, internships and many chances to act or work in actual projects. I really hope they could teach us animation in the course and it would really help if the clubs are active. For every exam we have to come up with something new totally out of the box. sometimes we also have to work overtime.

Students become eligible for placements after their graduation project in the 8th semester which is the 4th year. A good number of companies around 8-10 come for the campus placements. The minimum package starts from 6 lakhs and can go up to 20 lakhs per annum. Almost 70% of the students get an on campus placement. Some get an off campus placement as well. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters in my field.
