Likes
- The classrooms and labs have centralized AC which helps to survive in hot weather
- Hostels are very good. There is lift in every hostel, Cold water facility, regular cleaning, pest control on regular bases etc.
- There is also a Department of Student Welfare (DSW)
Dislikes
- The workload is so much. you have to give regular assignments and so much extra projects
- The criteria of minimum 75% attendance is not liked by most of the students
- The university is at 20km distance from main bus stand in Chandigarh
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of the University is according to standards which are defined for the Universities by the government. The curriculum in the Chandigarh University is same as the curriculum of IIT Bombay and other top government colleges in the country. The Course outcomes focus on overall development of student's Learning , reading, interpreting and creative thinking skills. Though there are some areas where the university should improve like, instead of teaching subjects like Biology, Physics in 1st year of Btech , University should focus on developing student's core skills. There are two theory mid-term exams and one Practical mid-term in one semester and Final term exam at the end of semester. The difficulty level is sometimes high and sometimes it is very easy.
Internships Opportunities
Some of the companies which came recently were FICO ehich was offreing role of front end and backend developer at a stipend of 30000rs per month, Toddle for the role of full stack developer at a stipend of 50000rs per month for 1 year, Wissen technologies, Scaler for the role of Analyst at a stipend of 60000Rs per month. In my projects I had developed a Portfolio with react and a full stack commercial Application.
Placement Experience
The companies starts coming to campus in 6th semester for internships and in &th semester the companies come almost every week and sometimes more than 2 companies conduct placement process on same day . The average package is 10-12 lakh and the highest package till now is 1.5 cr. Almost 50% students get placement. I want to go for GATE exam after my degree
Fees and Financial Aid
The University conducts CUCAT exam for admission , on the basis of which the scholarship is given to the students. The tution fees of Btech- CSE for one year was Rs. 180000/- in 2021 and for 2024 it is Rs. 270000/- approx for one year. You have to pay the same fees on which you have taken admission throughout your degree, there is no hike in fees for the students every year. Other than that there is examination fees which is Rs 2000/- per year . Various other financial aids are also provided by university like Government scholarships for students of Bihar from the Bihar government, Scholarships to Scheduled Castes by the Punjab Government and many more.
Campus Life
The university organizes CUFEST every year in the month of march and other than that there are many department level fests. The university has two big libraries , One of which is recently opened with the facility of private study rooms, Tablets for every student to study there, biometric entry and exit systerm and with soothing environment to sit and study. The classrooms have wifi facility and projectors, The university is have sports complex , where the students who are interested in any game can go there and play, the students can get sports equipment issued from department itself. there are many clubs in university which organize competitions and seminars for students like- CRC, IEEE etc
Hostel Facilities
In hostel there are 2 lifts in every building of hostel and there is common washrooms for every three rooms which are cleaned daily. In the room there are Electricity port for every student and 2 Fans, Single box bed and separate almirah for every student in a 4 seater room and a big balcony. You can apply for hostel online on there own website , where he can apply for hostel. There is mess for every hostel building and it is well sanitized and food is decent in taste.
Admission
For taking admission in BE- CSE in Chandigarh university the students should have minimum 60% marks in 12th. The admission form is available on the offial site of chandigarh university. Where you have to fill CUCAT form and after the exam you can take admission. The scholar ship is given on the basis of CUCAT and you can also get 50% scholarship if you have 90% marks in 12th. Students also get fees waiver on basis of Sports quota. The university takes admission till October
Faculty
Most of the faculty members who are teaching in first year are pursuing there Phd side by side from the University. The Faculty which is teching students in 3rd year and above are mostly Postgraduate from reputated universities and they have experience of over more than 10 years in teaching. For every 35 students there is 1 faculty available . The faculty prefers to teach using the projectors and tells the complex concepts on the white board. I interact with my professors every week when I have to consult about my projects and whenever I have any doubt related to the subject.
