Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course fortunately covers various dimensions of the media field, but I feel that it lacks information on core Journalism. To be specific, while the curriculum has topics like writing and editing for print media, there is no mention of topics like page design and editing, due to which the students lack the necessary skills.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

Parul does offer a lot of internship opportunities, but not for Arts students. The offers the students get are nowhere related to their field of study. Arts students are ignored due to them being less in number and that is a very negative aspect.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee is quite affordable. Compared to other universities, a fee of Rs.35000 per semester Unfortunately, the campus jobs have to do with what the course is about. The college management is too focused on engineering and management students to look into the matter of Arts students.

Campus Life

4

The fests and events organized are unlike no other. Parul University has a very good portfolio in terms of events and often organizes them at the grandest stage possible. The sports facility, in terms of training is lacking though. The libraries are not well equipped with books for Journalism students.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

While the hostels may seem affordable and do offer many services, the attitude of the staff is disappointing. The clothes sent in the laundry come back dirty, and the food provided is pretty sub-standard. The most disturbing attribute is that the hostels are infested with rats and the management does nothing to ammend thatm

Admission

There is no eligibility criteria, which I think is not that great of a situation. Some kind of a test or atlas t interviews should be kept before giving admission to a student. Additionally, the office workers of the admission cell are very lethargic and lazy. They don't properly explain the conditions

Faculty

4

All of the faculty members are well educated and have on-field experience, due to which they impart a lot of on ground knowledge. A majority of the faculty is currently pursuing PHD as well, which enhances their credibility. The faculty is friendly with the students and have family like bonds.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very well designed but not updated as per the recent industry standards if the respective fields. There are no subjects lile vontent writing or learning graphic designing as it's requied in the feild of mass communication. I wanted to learn news anchoring as that's why I remeber joining this course but there is no training to the practical aspects. If they add certificate courses or workshops on things that the industry is requiring it will make the students good enoug to go and earn as soon as the graduate. The exams are taken at teh very right times and the frequency is goo the difficulty level is same for student wo attend and the one who never came to college even once in the entire semester

Once you reach to 5th sem, you are supposed to do a compulsory academic internship and in the 6th semester, you might get placed based on your 5th sem internship performance. I don't know much about the insiders but the placement cell is very active for other departments as well.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are the best part of the university. From the last semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Times of India, Hindustan Times, Dainik Bhaskar, Danik Navjyoti, CNN, Sandesh, Star TV Network visited the campus. The internship opportunity is also really good. Almost 85% of students get campus placements. I want to be a news anchor after the completion of my degree.
