What Students Say
Likes
- The best thing was the exposure given as students from throughout the country and even foreign countries are there
- The next thing i will say is placements, although in my batch it was not very good because of the recession and all, but in my seniors batch i myself saw many were holding more than 2-3 offers. I myself even in 2024 hold 4 oncampus offers
- Another thing i will mention is about the hostels. The hostels according to me were good. Good nice and clean bathrooms, regular cleaning etc.
Dislikes
- Being from 2024 batch, The placements were not up to the mark. I personally know a lot of deserving students who didn't get oncampus placement even after having adequate skills.
- Mess food although is better than most of the colleges in the country, still it can be made much better. Especially the rotis. Most of the times the sabzi's are good but rotis are machine made which makes them impossible to eat at times.
- The engineering curriculum is not the best. Its true not only for chandigarh university but for almost every college in the country. Instead on focusing on subjects that helps in placement students are busy in focusing on not so important subjects.
Course Curriculum Overview
Some subjects are quite relative and helped me lot in securing oncampus placement. But there are many that were not worth it. They were quite complex and gave a lot of headache to students. But, I will say that they taught us how to handle pressure and give exams by studying only an hour.
Internships Opportunities
Internships and placements go hands in hands. If one can find any internship opportunity like summer internship, you are good to go. But iny batch majority of companies visited after 6th semester. And they offered internship plus ppo. So it was totally dependent on students performance and companies needs.
Placement Experience
Placements are good overall. But 2024 is an exception. One can say because of recession as every college including IIT'S, Nit's faced same issue this year. Still many students including me were able to grab on campus placements. Companies were less in number but still one can not say that they didn't get opportunity. Opportunities were there, It was all about one's preparations, skillset and luck as well. As per my knowledge the highest package was somewhere around 23-24 lpa by zscaler. Also a lot of companies gave 8lpa+ offers. ZS picked 29 students at a package of 13.65lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at my time i.e 2020 batch was 80k per semester which now is somewhere around 120k per semester. This is for general cse. The hostels were 90k per year. Examination fees was 2500 per semester. Talking about scholarships, i completed my entire academics at 50% scholarship that means 40k per semester. So definately if you can avail scholarship, there are opportunities for the same. They conduct an exam named Cucet and on that basis students are given scholarships.
Campus Life
Campus life was good. A big beautiful campus equipped with good infrastructure and greenery all around. Throughout the year, one or another events or festivals are going on and some well known celebrities are there in them. Almost every block has its own library with a vast collection of books. Anyone willing to study can go and study, the atmosphere in libraries is serious and one can easily study there will full patience. A lot of sports teams are there and cu students represents the university in almost every sport i know. Also it has a dedicated sports arena where participants get good facilities.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are good overall. The fees at my time was 90k per annum and should be around 120k per annum now. The rooms are mostly 4 seaters. Every three rooms have one common washrooms which are fine. The washrooms are cleaned everyday which is really good. Also if one faces any issue, one can launch a complaint and it is solved as soon as possible in majority of cases. The mess food is fine. Will rate it 6/10. If you are not too choosy, then i believe you will be able to manage it. Still it is better than those who live in pg or flats. Still if you want a flat or pg, the entire area around the college is open. You will find a lot of pg, flats. Flats are more available in modern valley, Gbp, omega, darpan etc.
Admission
Eligibility is PCM for Bachelor of engineering course. To apply one can visit cu's official website and fill some personal details. You will receive a callback from the college's end and then you will be informed about rest of the process. One can give cucet exam to avail extra scholarship. Also scholarship are on the basis of jee mains scores as well. At my time due to covid scholarships were also on the basis of 12th percentage.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is fine. And in labs the ratio is 1:35 which i believe is good. Also teaches are supportive and kind in nature. Majority of teachers are well qualified but there are many who are qualified but they don't seem to be. If you know you know. If you want to study, teachers will help. And if you don't, than they won't care. As simple as that.
