Course Curriculum Overview

5

Ok so the major highlight of this course is you study about nearly every branch of science such as forensic science, genetic engineering, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, cell bio, developmental bio, biochemistry, first aid, cancer bio, etc throughout the 4 years. It is an honors course so the final year you'll have the opportunity to do internship and project work too. A year is divided into 2 semesters. In each semester there's 2 internal exams and 1 final sem exam. They are moderately difficult as you cannot pass science subjects without studying.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are internship opportunities that are given but as a 1st year I don't know much about it now. There's a common college WhatsApp group and there's a lot of internship info being send to it. Especially for the msc courses and phd's there are companies like biology and other research or laboratory companies that come for interview and placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

So the total fees is 1,25,000. Out of this 1,10,000 is the tuition fees. 10,000 is paid for something which I don't clearly remember. 5000 as examination fees. There's an entrance test and first 2 top rankers get 40% discount on the fees. Additionally students from the North Eastern States also have their own scholarship opportunities which I have seen many of my fellow classmates get.

Campus Life

5

There are all major functions that is conducted such as annual day, sports day, 2 days fest, but additional programs are less because our curriculum is kind of packed tight. Overall the campus life is good and enjoyable. The library is good and filled with a large number of books for reference. The classrooms have projectors and mic facilities are also there. There's a lot of sports and extracurricular opportunities in the campus. Especially competing with other colleges. There are various student clubs and meetings on every Friday evening for it.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Facilities in room: it's 2 person sharing rooms and it contains of 2 beds, tables, chairs, cupboards with an attached bathroom. There are helpers that cleans the room once a week. Meal quality won't be the same as home but it's still fine as there's a lot of variety given of different states. Registration process is along the admission process it will be asked.

Admission

Eligibility requirements: a student who passed grade 12 PCB with min 60% marks. Entrance Test: Nucat To apply visit the official website of Nitte University of Science Education and Research (NUCSER) and search for Nucat. Application usually starts at April and ends by june-july. This year there's 2 nucat tests for biomedical science.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Semester 4, my course included the concepts of Radioactivity which has been a fascinating topic for me, and wanting to learn that aspect pf chemistry was a reason that lead me to choose this course. the curriculum is not sufficient or up to date for current further academic pursuits. the course curriculum should include more scientific instruments commonly used in labs and the teachers could preferably be more positive with their attitude and create an atmosphere where learning is chased. where the teaching doesn't feel like they're just doing their job and finishing their hours by reading ppts off a laptop. the exams themselves are fair and well prepared. perfectly balanced to score based on how much you've learnt.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from the 5th semester. The university also conducts placement drives and skill development workshops. Out of the various companies, some of the reputed ones include Goldman Sachs, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, etc. The average package is around 7 to 8 lakhs but 60% students opt out from placements for further education. I plan to study a master's degree in business economics after my undergraduate studies.

Placement Experience:

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
