Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have completed first semester at this college and we studied anatomy, sociology, psychology and physiology. All of subjects comprised in the syllabus are relevant and prepares us well for real world applications. My brother is studying nursing and he inspired me to choose this course. Exams are held at the end of semester and proper internal exams are held in the semester.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Mangalore college of nursing provides internship and posting opportunities at highland hospital and yenopoya medical College and students gain practical knowledge and experience. Students are posted at these hospitals during end of courses as well as in the midst of course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fee for BSC nursing is 3 lakhs for tuition fee and 3 lakhs for mess. I have not opted for any scholarship as im not aware of any scholarships provided. There are no tuition fee hikes and i feel satisfied with fee amount. I have not undertake any campus employment yet as im just in my first semester.

Campus Life

3

Overall campus experience has been very dull at Mangalore college of nursing as the infrastructure is quite lacking and not facilitating events and fests. The college management isn't interested in such extracurricular activities and is only focused on academic progress. We are currently studying in the latest campus and library is new and spacious and contains vast amount of books and journals. There are no grounds or facilities for sports on campus. The college management should focus on improving infrastructure to support and improve campus life of students.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have opted for the hostel for three lakhs total fee inclusive of mess service. One room is accomodated by three students which is bathroom attached. The meals are south indian menu and of average taste. Meals are provided three times a day and snacks in the evening. Hostel service can be opted during admission process.

Admission

The eligibility criteria for bsc nursing is minimum 60% marks in class 12. The admission process involves application to the college directly and it was recommended by a friend to me. There was no interview process or group discussions. I have availed no reservations. Exams are held at the end of semester and internal exams are also held. The college could improve the admission process by implementing online admission process.

Faculty

4

Faculties at Mangalore college of nursing are well qualified and hardworking. The faculty to student ratio is 1:60 per batch. The faculties have masters in nursing. Their teaching methods are very effective and they ensure proper analysis of students academic progress. Teachers are very social towards students and proper and effective communication is present.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Aspects that made me choose this course : The course has strong clinic focus. It gives early ward postings and lab skill training. The mix of theory and clinical work made me choos it. The course gives hands-on skill in wards and lab. We learn case study, care plan and drug chart. It also improves our critical thinking skills during intervention. Areas to improve : More skill lab time can be added. More demo with new tech will help. More group talk snd case based learn can imrpove study. There are 2 internal exams each sem and one final exam. Exams are fair and needed daily study. They are not very hard if we prepare well.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are available, but they are average and not very high level. The college conducts campus placement for our course, mainly in hospitals and related healthcare sectors. Many students get placed through college, but package is usually basic or entry-level. It is good for starting career and gaining experience.
