Get to know IIT Roorkee

I am enrolled in Electronics and Communication so I could tell u of that course. I chose this course as I am deeply interested in electronics and signals. Our curriculum is very well designed with best of theory and then we have well equipped labs where we apply our theory knowledge to practicality which teaches us how to solve real World problems. However there are few areas that need to be improved as I believe that few courses need to be revised as their curriculum is little old as per today's industry standards. We have 2 exams per semester at the gap of 2 months. For difficulty I would say that if one has attended classes regularly and done tutorial he will pass the exams, with good grades . More over exams sometimes also test practical knowledge of students.

Yes,our collage offer great intership opportunities.At the start of 3rd year we have internship season where various comanies coe to offer us internship with syipend ranginf from 40k to 4.5 lac per month and tis internship we have to do for 2 months.

Campus placement are very good. We sit for placement in 8th semester . Around 1300 student sit for placement and almost 1150 students successful get the job. Average package is around 28,lakh and median is 25 lakhs Many companies visit our collage including tech giants like google, Microsoft, Facebook, adobe and many, quant companies like quantbox, quadAI etc

For a b-Tech student without any privilege the total course fees for 8 semester is 12lakhs.This is, fixed and not hiked . So we have 8 semester hence per, semester fees is 1.5 lakh. 1 lakh tution fees , 40 thousands mess and hostel and 5 thousands educational trip and 5 thousands miscellaneous. However collage provides many scholarship for underprivileged students like student whose fami income is below 6 lakh per year get 40% off in tution fees Moreover their is MCM scholarship available which provides further discount of 40% on tution fees to such students. For students with backward classes their is 0 tution fees so their per semester fees is 50k only.

Our overall campus life is too good . We have two fest throughout the year. One is cultural fest Thomso North india biggest fest and it helds in October and tech fest Cognizence and it helds in March. We have India's biggest library the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library and it has almost 50k books available. Classrooms are very good with around sitting capacity of 40-150, well furnished ACs installed and black board and projector installed. We have all kind of sports facilities available form indore to outdoor including cricket ground, football ground, tennis, court, swimming court and each hostel has their own playing room available.

We hace inbuilt collages inside the campus whose charge as i mentioned in fee detail section is 20000 .Being in hostel is necessary for each student until he she has special permission.For hoster insfracture i would say not too great not too bad ,its something of decent type.Our collage has total 10 hostels meant for differnt students some for nri some for phd ,b-tech and so on .Mess facility at my hostey i would rate little low as personnaly did not like the food as theu didnt have much variety.

For getting admission in b-tech we have to qualify Jee Advance , the toughest engineering enterance examination in India. Cutoff for each course varies. For electronicsc ans communication, for general category one should have rank<1400, for OBC rank<=3200 for SC, ST rank<12000.Moreover our course have high reputation across the globe and many good foreign universities give admission for Phd based on our course

Faculty available in my campus are best i can say. They have deep knowledge in their subjects and they teach us with full interest and enthusiasm (exceptions are their). Most of them have done their post docterate from abroad and done extensive research in their domain and published many research papers. However one thing of concern is that faculty to student ratio is 1/80 which is not good. However we can approach faculty anytime in their office duing working hours for any kind of of subject releated doubt. Some of them and too good and have given their phone numbers to students so that we could reach them In any extreme situations.
