What Students Say
Likes
- I love the idea of students organising all the fests, and the admin involvement as little as possible
- The freedom we get in the college with regard to academics, rules, and the city of trichy itself is freeing and makes you happy
- The campus has a lot of like minded people and falling in the right company is not hard
Dislikes
- The transportation facilities for a campus that is 800 acres is very inadequate and physically exerted yourself to go to places in the heat can cause severe dehydration
Course Curriculum Overview
Materials science was a course that seemed to align with my creativity and I could see how I could use it to achieve things. The curriculum is well designed and covers everything you need but it feels out dated and needs some revising. The teachers need to make the classes a little more engaging. Exams happen in the interval of one to two months once and they can often be challenging.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies provide internship opportunities from various countries, students can start to apply for internships as soon as they enter second year. I am yet to inquire about the different internships available.
Placement Experience
Placements of the college are pretty good, but for some departments non core placements might seem scarce, but if you are smart enough to get into this college, I don't think it will be much trouble for you to find a job either
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual fee is 1000000. Since it's a government college scholarship is readily available for those who want to avail it and the default fees itself is nominal, the mess fees are not worth the food they provide. The food tastes mediocre.
Campus Life
Fests are plenty in NIT trichy, including festember in odd sems and Pragyan and nittfest in even sems. The college life is pretty eventful, but the curfew for girls is very strict and might seem unfair, and the city does not have much to provide and might seem fairly underdeveloped for city people
Admission
75% in boards is the basic category to be eligible for NIT. If you get from anywhere around 85 to 100 percentile in jee main you might be able to join in NIT Trichy, it depends on your reservations, etc.
Faculty
Most of the teachers that take the classes are highly qualified and will be phd holders with a lot of phd students that they actively guide and their qualifications are not in question, but sometimes they might let a mtech student handle classes and that can be annoying. The teacher to student ratio is pretty good. Anyways at last no one can help you if you don't listen to class and also study by yourself.
