Course Curriculum Overview

4

It was my sturn decision to take bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communication as my under graduation course after my qualified 12th standard.Because i have studied some basics of journalism when i was in my 11 and 12th and it was quite interesting and best course of this time. Well after enquiring so much i found to know that mar ivanios college have a the course i was searching for and also there are known for their best teaching method. After interacting with the faculty members at the time admission time. I got much more confident in choosing this course. As i expected i got to experience well with the teaching method, For sure curriculum had prepared me for real world applications or further academic pursuits. Its actually good till now. The timing of exams are only something which needs to be changed beacuse there will exams after every two months and its quite drastic and difficult for each and every students because they are not getting enough time to prepare for the exams

Internships Opportunities

5

College offers very good internship opportunities for each students. For me i got a very good internship opportunity from my college. Currently i am doing that internship during my summer vacation. I am now doing my internship of election work under public relation department in niyamasabha and i am very well satisfied with that.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didnt had any scholar ships but For me, after completing the entrance and all other interview required for the admission. I got selected in merit list out of 20 students and because of that i dont have to pay much tution fee to be paid. It was very cheap for merit listed students.i only had to pay for exams like all others it was even a problem. I think there were some scholarships or financial aids for students but just because i didn't needed them , i am not aware of such policies.

Campus Life

5

I have a very good experience with my campus life. Focusing on social aspects there are many annual and monthly programmes and festival that are held frequently on my college and they are well oraganised and students are well aware and happy with that. Some of the names of best annual fest and college fests are onam fest, xmas fest, college fest named ivano fest and these three were extraordinary comparing with others.we have a very good library in our college with very good range and accessibility of books and journals. We have a very good facilities and technological provisions within the classrooms also campus is requiring excellent overview of sports and extracurricular activities and also i was a member of NSS (National Service scheme) on the campus. It was like a social group or club which had a great influence in my life and they offers very good impact on students life.

Admission

Admission process was easy while comparing with others. Eligibility of the course that i was looking was 12th standard. I was looking for bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communication back that time after completing my 12th. And my first priority and preference was to get admission in mar ivanios college Trivandrum. It is one of the best autonomous college currently in Kerala. As part of the first stage of the admission procedure i checked on the college website to know what are the entry requirements. After got to know about the procedures i submitted my details and marklist as part of the entry requirements. After some time i got a mail from the college informing that there will be an entrance exam and interviews as part of admission required for the particular course that i was looking for. Then i completed the entrance exam and interviews required for the admission. After the results were published,i got selected in merit list and got the admission without any difficulties.

Our curriculum is all good and cover many range of topics which are mostly important and we also had may revision sessions but are very few and as a suggestion i would like some of the teachers to improve the way they take the classes . Sometime at the end of the semester they will hurry up and finish the portions so fastly. We also have 1/2 internals in each semester.

I chose this course as i love journalism but haven't looked into curriculum before admission. Curriculum is quite good but some portions are irrelevant. Practicals are very less in the college which is really important for this course. The areas related to television and radio broadcasting should be improvised. Exams are once in 6 months

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well after my 12th this whole concept of media and getting into the world of media studies has kept me always on the edge of the seat. Because during my early days in IB I always had a knack for media studies and always be the top of my class. I just loved the world of media. There are just lots of things to do in media. Its a very productive genre for youths in working and creativity areas. Companies look forward to people like me. Our skill is their definition towards a new growth. The way how college prepares you for exams. Good luck with that. I don't think they mentally prepare us. They never teach us, so that's out of option. This is why the majority fails in my class. They are given a whole chapter without explanations. How can us as a student be prepared for the future?
