Course Curriculum Overview
I am in Biomedical engineering dual degree course according to me I faced problem only in first semester while other semesters are pretty doable, with not that much load. Department professors are also nice they do not pressurise students in academic related stuffs. I had a deep interest in medical field from school itself which influenced me to take this course. Courses that we have are well structured and relevant for the students from maths background, even for research purposes we are taught with the basic level. Courses here are not that much updated with the present advancements but that is case in most of the IITs. We have mainly two exams mid sems and end sems with quizzes and assignments in between, which is doable nicely if we manage our time properly.
Internships Opportunities
Students take reasearch as well as Industry internships here. For research internships their are various programs conducted by various prestigious institutes and programs such as KHORRANA, MITACS, DAAD-WISE. For non core summer internships, one can give tests conducted by companies in colleges and then interviews if one got shortlisted. Internship season is not that great here for Non circuital branches but the ones from circuital branches like Electrical, Electronics, Cse it's nice. Students can do projects under profesors here which can help them in building nice resume and overall experience.
Placement Experience
As a technical institute mostly students go for roles such as Software development, product management, consultancy, data analytics, data science, Machine learning/AI , Quant etc. For placements btech students can sit for tests after 6th semester and for IDD students they can sit after 8th semester. I was a part of Training and placement cell and hence got an nice experience during this year's placement session. Highest CTC offer was 1.6Cr for Quant role in NX securities and average package of Mathematics and computing department being highest, about 30lakhs and over-all average package of 18Lakhs. As of now around 65- 70% students are placed with 1200+ offers given overall. Iam planning for Data Analyst role in future as if little bit aligns with my current curriculum and interest.
Fees and Financial Aid
Here we have 1Lakh rs Tution fee for General and OBC-NCl people with family income greater than 5 Lakhs, for students having family income between 1-5Lakhs is given 33% fee remission and If it's under 1Lakhs 100% fee remission is given. Student can avail this by submitting the ITR file or income certificate generated by government. For SC/ST/PWD category students tution fee is fully remitted despite their family income value. 15,000 is taken for mess per semester. 6-7 Thousand for other amenities such as hostel rent fees, electricity, water, exam, improvement funds etc. Their are various kinds of scholarship by private organisations which one can avail in first year itself, Students mainly get to know about this through mails sent by college. Until now I have taken any paid opportunities under campus employment here, but was part of various clubs.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty nice, living in the holy city Varanasi is a very nice experience one can get in his or her life. We have Kashiyatra( cultural fest) during January, Technex ( tech fest) during March, Spardha (sports fest) during August, FMC weekend ( digital arts fest) in november with a footfall of thousands in each. We have one of the largest libraries which is easily accessible. Extra curricular life is great here be it cultural, technical, sports area of life. I am a part of Photography club, which also impacted my personal growth be it soft skills, public speaking capabilities and making bonds with your peer and seniors.
Hostel Facilities
In first year we get Aryabhatta hostel and in 2nd year we are living in Satish dhawan hostel. These hostels are nice, livable, are of 3 seater capacity. Initially we used to face Problems but after 1-2 months everything got settled up. We can choose our own roommates in second year. Mess are managed by Maharaj's and we get served food on our table. Which is a good homely experience. Hostel registration process starts in every odd semester which is easy process and not much time taking. One can take rented room near Hyderabad gate which is very near to our main campus.
Admission
Students who qualified jee mains got a chance to give jee advance exam. Jee mains is conducted by NTA and we can get it's detail on NTA's website where we can fill out application and the fees depends upon your category also. NTA conducts jee mains in 2 sessions with CBSE board exams in between, student can give any of these or both and the maximum score is taken in count. Jee mains is pretty time game and if course is covered upto Cbse board level and practiced enough previous year question in time bound manner one can easily get good score. After qualifying this we can give JEE advance exam which is for IIT's.
