Is mes a better college for engineering

Dislikes

  • The infrastructure of the college is very bad
  • No good facilities to conduct a program in the college

Course Curriculum Overview :

I am interested in coding so I opted for btech in computer science engineering. The curriculum followed by Mescet ernakulam is that of apj Abdul Kalam technological University. Currently the college follows 2019 syllabus and it gets updated every four years. The current syllabus is pretty slow and outdated and not much industry relevant. The course does provide solid technical base but doesn't prepare you for the industry. Exams are conducted at the end of semester and internal exams are conducted within a semester. The faculties are hardworking.

Internships Opportunities :

The college doesn't provide internships. We students should find one and do. The teachers will share internships to do in respective groups. We can choose based on our interests. The College provides workshops which helps to get activity points

Placement Experience :

The college offers placement at the from 7th semester onwards. Highest package offered is 3 lakhs. Almost all students get placed in different companies. My plan is to get into one of the best companies in kochi.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I entered the college through management quota. The fee for management quota varies heavily student to student. My tuition fee is 32000 per semester and a special fee of 8000 is charged. There is no incrementation for tuition fee or any other fees. Special fee and security deposits are to be paid along with the tuition fee. Scholarships are based on twelfth grade scores, keam cut-off etc. students who performed well in twelfth grade can avail good scholarships. Other government aided scholarships are also available.

Campus Life :

We had college freshers when we joined the college that was in the month of September basically events and cultural programs are very less in the college. There is no union for the college.Books are widely available in the college Library for reference. journals, novels etc a not available. There is no smart board in the classrooms. Only black board Is available. so it is difficult for the teachers to show presentations. The college doesnot have any sport teams. The college dont even have a football ground. Many clubs are available in the college like Google development students club, game development club, IEE etc.

Hostel Facilities :

We have a large room with 8 persons in each room. There is no seperate compartments for the room. Different menu is provided for each day. Meals, biryani, etc are available in the mess. The hostel registration was done from the college at the time of admission. They asks us wheather we need the hostel facility or not. The hostel fee is 2k without food. It is not worth because we don't have a seperate rooms. The hostel is inside the college campus itself at aluva, kunnukara

Admission :

Admission to Mescet ernakulam is through various mediums like 1. KEAM ( Kerala engineering and medical exam ) cut offs 2. Lateral entry ( for polytechnic graduates ) 3. Management and NRI quota. For KEAM, a certain cutoff is decided by the examination authorities and those who meet the criteria are selected. Management and NRI seats can be acquired by booking with payment. Admission forms can be found in college official website. Admission process is completed after visiting the college.

Interview Experience :

There were no GD or interview during admission process. I opted management quota and all I had to do get admission was to pay the tuition fee and fill the application form. The application form was found in official Mescet website and the admission process was finished at college.

The Semester exams are tough. Electronics and biomedical engineering is a growing field that offers high chances to students in the future. I like how technology and medicine are totally different and we can join this way.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
