Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course because the fee is very low. I didn't found anything in the course that is going to help us anywhere in future. Even college is following NEP, the syllabus is old fashioned and same as it was earlier. Because we get less time to cover the syllabus teachers complete the syllabus in hurry. Frequency of exam in good as we have only two exams per semester. Faculties are comfortable in Hindi so students from English medium schools should avoid taking admission in Digvijay college. While coming to improvements they can make, 1. They should implement tech in classroom, make a hybrid learning system. 2. Teachers should tech in both English and Hindi even the English medium students are less. 3. Teachers should focus on teaching rather than completing syllabus.
Placement Experience
I don't have much knowledge about campus placements but during admission college administration told that companies like Vedanta visit s for campus placements. There are 2-3 other companies like Vedanta which comes every year and selects around 8-10 students every year. I have a little idea about packages because even college don't focus on it, but it is going to be a small amount and very less percentage of students get campus placements. As the bachelor of science degree offers a wide range of career opportunities, I will do MCA after the graduation because I initially wanted to join the course but because of high fee structure I couldn't.
Fees and Financial Aid
For last few years, the fee for B.Sc. Mathematics is fixed to 1800 during admission. We have to pay 1200 of exam fee per semester and around 150-200 for university enrollment. The total cost including everything per year comes around 5500. We can apply for state government scholarship scheme, college asks for documents during application process, eligible candidates can apply through college.( As of my knowledge it is not available for General candidates). As I am in my first year of college I don't have idea about the placements but my seniors told me that companies like Vedanta provide campus placement and we can expect average package around 50K INR.
Campus Life
As the college is following NEP, we now have many technical workshops during whole year, we have our annual function in Jan/Feb. We have huge library with wide range of books available along with 2 big reading rooms. The technology is limited in classroom, we are taught everything in traditional way. Every class have a projector with digital board but I have never seen someone using it. Sports facilities are good, sports department is very helpful. Coming to extracurricular activities, college organise many competitions and exhibition throughout the year.
Admission
All PCM students are eligible for B.Sc. In Mathematics. The application form is available through college website gdcr.ac.in, all the dates and other information is available on same website. For admission we have to pay just 1800 (Excluding exam fee). Exams are conducted in semesters. We have 2 semester in a year and in every semester there is only 2 exams, first internal exams then semester final exam which falls in Dec/Jan for odd semesters and May/June for even semesters. Digvijay college is the only college in the whole district which follows NEP and semester system. The college follows same syllabus as that of Delhi University. For admission we have to fill application online then the college release a merit list based on 12th class percentage. Later students are called for document submission. Those students who have a gap/drop year after 12th are given last preference in merit list no matter how good is your percentage is. I found this as a big issue.
