Course Curriculum Overview

1

I chose this course to pursue MBA after this course. I was very confused about what I should do in college. I was from science background, but chose to switch it up to Commerce for no particular reason. Faculty is not too good to be honest. Very limited numbers of teachers in the whole Commerce Department (6-7 teachers+H.O.D). There are 200+ students. Only the local 40-50 students attend class, that too not very regularly due to poor teaching skills.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no fees as it is a governmental-run college. During form fill-up of every exams, a fees of 2500 is paid for every semester. Besides the exams fees, a Seminar fee of 500 has to be paid per semester. There are a number of scholarships, financial assisstances released by the government from time to time. There is no possibility of getting placed, no assistance of getting jobs by the college. Work hard, try participating in NGOs, make a good profile.

Campus Life

2.5

There is a annual fest at the end of the academic session. Every month, a few seminars and other programmes are conducted. A very minimal library with few books, with a very less amount of space, gets agitated and crowded. Desk, benches, windows, a white board and a black board is what a class consists of (most of the classes. No scope for sports, time to time tournaments of various sports are held.

Admission

Admission is purely based on 12th Marks. No other eligibility is needed. You get shortlisted little by little, until all the seats get filled up, according to your 12th marks percentage. Application form can be found on Odisha's SamsOdisha website. Admission is conducted through various phases.

Placement Experience:

In our college, final-year students are eligile for campus placements. While i don't recall the specific companies that visited, one of my friends interviewed with Axis Bank and got selected with a package of around 2.4 lakh. The exact percentage of students are placed and details of average or highest packages are unclear to me, but the placements process provides opportunities of those actively seeking jobs. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue an independent career rather that seeking a traditioinal job placement.
