Overall good experience in Xavier

I had great interest for learing the past that's why I selected history honours. There was 6 semesters. There were 2 compulsory papers and 1 generic paper in sem 1 and 2. In 3rd,4th,5th and 6th sem they have 3 compulsory papers and 1 generic. You will get option to choose generic after admission process is completed. There were 7 faculties for history honours including HOD. We had a class of 75 students in day section. The faculties are very cooperative and supportive. The professors were highly qualified. Most of them have doctorate degree. Some professors provided notes and some of them refered books for self study. So there were total 6 semesters. Each paper was for 100 marks. You have to give mid sem of 30 marks in which 15 marks was given in assignment and 15 marks was mid sem. End sem comprises of 70 marks. If you study well in class you can get decent score in exam. One thing I like about Xavier's is that they conducted exam regulary on time.

Since I was in Arts stream i didn't get internship opportunity in college. There is not as such direct internship provided to you in college. I had done one internship but it was not provided by college.

The fee for history honours is almost 25000 per year. The OBCs, SCs and STs can also avail scholarship by filling the ekalyan form provided by college. Your admission fee will get almost returned in scholarship. But to get scholarship you must be resident of Jharkhand. During end semester they also charge examination fee which was 700 during 2018-2021. Well history students generally didn't get opportunity for campus hiring. It is mostly for commerce and science students.

There are 4-5 clubs in the college. You can join NSS ,NCC,Rotract Club etc. The college has annual fest every year during the month of February. You can volunteer during fest for which you will get certificate of participation. You can participate in various fun activities during fest and also showcase your talent. I was a member in NSS and had learned a lot while doing social service. There are 2 libraries here- Central and Department. The college also has reading room in the library. For getting books from library you have to fill the form. After you got the book you have to return it after 15 days. There is also gym in the college having fee of 10000rs per year. The collge regularly comducts sports event and debate competition. The campus have a football and basketball ground. You can approach your seniors for joining these sports. Talking about classroom it is simple like any other college-like having projector, one big board and fan and benches.

I had filled the application for history honours 2018-21 batch through sxcran.org website in july.You need atleast 50% marks in 12th and have to qulaify entrance exam to get admission. They charged very minimal fee of Rs 1000 for application.The application process is quite simple-you have to upload your basic details and matriculation and intermediate certificates. After completion of your application process you have to appear for entrance exam which will be conducted in the college itself in Ranchi.The entrance exam is based on 11th and 12th class history syllabus you can refer NCERT for this. At that time they didn't tell the cut off they just release a document on their website containing the name of the candidate selected. They also provide reservation benefits to SCs and STs. There are 2 batches- day and evening. Once you get your name in document you have to come to college for document verification. After the verification is completed your admission process gets completed.
