I applied to IIT Guwahati and IIT ROORKEE. Compared to those IITs, kgp offers better research opportunities. IIT KGP requires a good GATE score with a 700+ cutoff. For my discipline in particular, GATE BT and GATE XL scores are accepted....Read More

Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More
