Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I wanted to become an Assistant Professor of English. The faculty members in PSg are well-versed and well-educated. Almost all the faculty members were PhD holders and they gave us a really good experience in the learning process. There were more than 15 faculty in our department and our class strength was around 52. They also used a lot of new learning techniques and methods. The faculty are also friendly and they give you all opportunities.
Internships Opportunities
We can also apply to interships while studying. We can also do internships in private companies for which we will have to take consent from our particular department. Apart from this, we are given a project in our third semester which we will have to do individually.
Placement Experience
Since I was in my PG we had placement training right from my second semester. We had special class just for placements. We were trained really very well for placements. Since my final year was during covid we had our placements through online mode. We had Jaro education, Teach for India and various other companies. Almost all students who attend placement get placed. We had an average package of 2,50,000.
Fees and Financial Aid
The was a bit less when compared to other prestigious institutions in Coimbatore. In the first semester alone the fees also included the admission processing fee but after that, it cost about 22000 rupees per semester. They also provide scholarships for SC/ST category and various other scholarships like single girl children, Minorities, etc. During the admission process, they also give financial assistance to students if they work for the admission process.
Campus Life
They conduct a lot of events. We had cultural as well as department events. We also had a lot of clubs. There was a readers club, a Theatre club, and so many others which focussed on the English department. Apart from this, we had Rotract, NSS, NCC, and a lot more. The culture is usually conducted in the even semester. We also have pongal and onam celebrations. The Pongal celebration was one of the best celebrations that we had at PSG. The library is well equipped with lots of journals and fiction/non-fiction for English literature students. The classrooms are well ventilated and they also have a projector in all the classrooms. They also allow us to join in various sports such as cricket, basketball, etc.
Admission
I submitted an online application through the college website. In the application, we had to enter the marks scored in our Bachelor's. Based on our marks merit seats were given to students based on their community. I also got a seat and my name was on the merit list. They expect above 75% if your name should be on the merit list. The application fee was around 500 rupees and there was no reservation made before the publication of the merit list. The admission happened in June because only after the final semester results are out is the admission gets confirmed.
