Brief description of a Dairy student in SGIDT

I choose this course because it is an agriculture allied course and today the agriculture sector as well as the dairy sector is growing very fastly as we can see India is the world's largest producer of milk. The faculty: student ratio is quite short but enough to handle. The faculty of our college had done Ph.D. from reputed college ndri karnal and they all are well qualified and experience holders having vast knowledge about the dairy and veterinary subjects. The exams and semesters are always on time after admission. But the session starts quite last that's why it is a bit difficult to manage the degree on time.

For internship, many companies come like ITC Ltd, Sudha, Amul, etc. The maximum stipend given by ITC is 15,000 rupees while the minimum given by Sudha is 5,000 rupees and Amul doesn't provide any stipend. Presently I am an ITC intern getting huge exposure to the dairy sector and my project is curd cycle time analysis, Curd Capacity Enhancement, and milk packaging laminate loss reduction.

After 3rd year of this BTech degree program, we become eligible for campus placements. The highest package is given by amul of about 8 lakhs per annum. The annual average package is only 4 lakhs per annum. About 50% of students get placements from college.

The fee per semester is very nominal 7200 rupees. only for general and obc students and 4800 for sc/st students. The opportunity of scholarship is provided by the Bihar government which gives 2000 rupees per month and 12000 rupees per semester which is very helpful for attaining a degree from this college. Many companies come for placements like Amul, Sidha, Jeevika, IDMC, etc. giving an average package of 4 lakhs per year.

Campus Life is superb but in my college, less annual fest happens. There are cultural activities happening in our college during the Summer and inter-college sports championships during the winter. We also celebrate Saraswati Puja on a large-scale basis. We also have a music room where the music teacher comes and teaches us how to play the sitar, guitar, harmonium, etc.

I lived in a hostel for 4 years. It is not really good. The infrastructure is very poor but I managed to avail the other facilities of sports and ground near our hostel. The infrastructure is old but affordable. The girl's hostel is located outside the college premises but not so far.

The admission process was so smooth. I had given an entrance examination for taking admission to the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology. The entrance examination is termed BCECE. The application form reflects on the official website of BCECE. It is an examination based on the science streams subject like physics, chemistry, and maths. BCECE takes both maths and bio group students after 12th but the main eligibility criteria is u must have maths as a side subject along with bio. The application fee is very nominal about 1100 rupees. After examination, the result was declared on the official website and the counseling process started within a month.
