Birsa Agricultural University is a state-university that was established in the year 1981 after its formal inauguration by the then Prime Minister of India, Late Smt. Indira Gandhi. The university holds the approval of UGC.

BAU Ranchi offers a wide array of courses at UG, PG and PhD levels. BAU Ranchi Admission 2024

Birsa Agricultural University Admission 2024 is open. Admission to different UG Programs at BAU is done through a bifold procedure. 15% of the total seats are filled by a Combined Competitive Entrance Examination conducted by I.C.A.R. V.C.I. at All India level and 85% of the total seats are filled by Jharkhand Combined Competitive Entrance Examination Board, Ranchi.

Admission to the PG & PhD courses is granted based on the candidate’s performance in the entrance test conducted by the university. Selection of candidates for MBA is done based on a written test followed by GD and an interview.

BAU Ranchi Scholarships

Birsa Agricultural University offers various scholarships & freeships to students. Some of BAU Ranchi Scholarships & Freeships are mentioned below.

Merit and Merit-cum-means scholarship INR 350 and INR 300 per month to Post-graduate and undergraduate students, respectively, of all the three faculties viz. Agriculture, Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry and Forestry to 10% students of the intake capacity.
All the students belonging to SC/ST categories are also awarded District Welfare Scholarship (E- Kalyan) INR 425 per month.
Seventy-five percent of the intake capacity of postgraduate students in Agriculture, Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Forestry and College of Biotechnology are awarded fellowship INR 1500 per month in M. Sc./ M.V. Sc. and INR 2000 per month in the Ph.D. programmes.
University Grant Commission also provides Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship to SC/ST students for M.Sc./MV Sc./Ph.D. programme.
Undergraduate students belonging to states other than Jharkhand and admitted through ICAR receive National Talent Scholarship INR 3000 while PG students INR 5000 per month.
National fellowship for Scheduled Tribe students also provided by Govt. of India.

BAU Ranchi Facilities

Central Library: The library offers readers a spacious reading area with a large stack of shelves where they can consult books and other publications using an open access system. The library occupies 3000 square meters in total, of which 1500 square meters are used for inventory stacking, 500 square meters are used as a reading hall, and the remaining space on the ground floor is used for circulation, a photocopy room, librarians' offices, and other staff areas.
The Library Building's first floor houses the most up-to-date computer center and e-learning resources, as well as the internal conference hall. Approximately 14,000 books, e-books, bound volumes, advanced level monographs, directories, reprints, dissertations, and other reading materials are available in the ultramodern collections of the central library.

Hospital: The University has been running a good hospital with qualified doctor and medical compounder . This facility is available for the students & staff members of the University. For emergency, an Ambulance has also been provided under the control of Warden of Hostels.

Hostels: There are 14 student residences at the university, five of which are reserved for females and the remaining nine for boys. Every hostel has contemporary amenities including a computer, internet, phone, and common areas with newspapers, magazines, and XV. Every hostel has indoor gaming spaces. The hostel for boys and girls also has a single gym. The university oversees and supplies the modern necessities for the mess in each dorm. Each hostel now has two rooms furnished, one for the Dy. Warden's office and the other for guests. Every hostel has a generator connected to guarantee a steady supply of electricity.

College campus is very good in BAU. Campus is also very big. Campus is full of greenery and nature. You will not get bored in campus.
In evening multiple sports events are played like volleyball, cricket, football and basketball. Ground is well maintained.
Teachers and faculties are very supportive and highly knowledgeable. They will guide you at every stage of learning. Lab experiments and practical

Administrative work is very slow in BAU.
Need to work more on placement opportunities.

What are the placement opportunities in the college?

Students after coming in 7th semester, they start finding job opportunities. Placement of BAU is not that good. NGOs like Pradaan offer jobs as well as banks like IDBI also come for placement. Their package is around 3 Lakh to 5 Lakh per annum. Students getting placed is also very less. Its around 20% of the batch. Most students prefer higher studies for better opportunities and package. You can pursue M.Sc or MBA after graduation for better opportunities.

Campus internship opportunities and stipend

When you come in 7th semester then you are required to an intership. Mainly students go to any diary company like Sudha milk, FPOs and FPCs and NGO's. Mostly they don't provide stipend but if they do then its around 5000 per month. Task to do in internship is mostly like giving crop advisory to farmers, preparing crop documents for farmers and some times desk jobs like working on excel.

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

Agriculture / Horticulture is totslly practical approach course. These courses demand are increasing day by day specially in themes and initiative taken by government related to organic farming, sustainable agriculture, climate resilence agriculture and commercial agriculture. For these moslty Agriculture / Horticulture graduates are required a lot. This course teaches you about the ground level management of crops at farmers level. There is going to be lot of opportunites created in this field in coming future. Exams are held regulary in this course semester wise. With daily study you can pass easily in exams.

Fees of the course per semester and scholarship

As BAU is state government runed university so fee structure is also very nominal here. Per semester fee is around 3500 and per year around 7000. In this fees your hostel charge is included as well. Whole course fees would be around 30,000 for 4 years. You can avail for E-kalyan scholarship if you come under reserve category.

Various events, sports and library of the college

Overall campus life is good. In every 3-4 months some programs are held in university like Independece Day, Republic Day, Foundation Day, Christmas gathering, Kisan Mela etc. Kisan mela is generally held in Feburary every year. Its a 3 day event. Library facility is also avaialble for students. All types of books related to course is available for students. Most of the classrooms are now converted to smart classrooms with intallments of smart boards. Many extracurricular activities like Speech, extempore, essay competitons are held. Annual sports event is also held every year.

What are facilities available in the college hostel?

At the time of admission you are provided with your hostel accomodation if you wish to stay in hostel. Hostel fees is included in your semester fees which 1000 per semester. Regarding mess, private mess facility is available in hostel. Its fees is 3000 per month. Meal quality is normal. If you wish to stay in rented room or PG then you can find it in near by colonies of the BAU campus.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculty and teachers are very good and highly educated in BAU. All teachers are prfessors cum scientists. Their level of teaching is very good. They make understand topics in good manner. There is no difficulty in apporoaching and interacting with teachers there. They are always ready to guide you.

Admission process and eligibility criteria of the college

To take admisson in BAU university, JCECEB takes exams every year around may - june. You need to qualify the exam with rank under 300 to gain college under BAU. Syllabus of exam 11 and 12 PCM / PCB. Application fees is around 1000. Exam is not that much difficult. With good preparation you can qualify it. There is nothing like cut off. Everyone gets ranking in this exam but gain admission under BAU colleges you need to be under 300 rank. Councelling process is very slow. It should be improved.

the social life is top notch here its very easy to interact to any person here either its a junior or senior and all of them are very helpful.
the campus here is very beautiful and large filled with lots of trees and have a very open and peaceful environment.

the infrastructure is very old here which is more than 50 yrs which should be repaired.

The infrastructure is good and well equipped with all the amenities.
The university premises and campus is astoninshing.

Admission:

I chose this college as it is the best one for this course. The quality of education, the faculty, the environment, etc. all are very good. The admission to this college takes place through a state level entrance examination JCECE which is conducted each year by the JCECEB. All the students of science stream are eligible for this examination. The cutoff for admission is around 70 to 75% for this course. The overall admission process and the counselling takes place through online portal making it an easy process.

I got into this college after giving ICAR exam for PG. For getting admission it depends on many factor and not just on cut off. Mainly rank is seen for the admission. You can get this college of your rank is around 30-40 also in general category.

Fields are provided for experiments and practicals which makes learning easy and interesting.
Laboratories are very well equiped. The instruments are in good conditions.

Admission:

Course eligibility is to have Science with biology in class 12th. Then, we need to appear in JCECE exam conducted by state government. The form , fee and dates are available on the website of JCECE. Cutoffs vary according to the reservations. The exam is conducted once in a year in month of April or May. The difficulty level is moderate and it includes syllabus of Std. 11 and 12. The areas for improvement in admission process is that Clear instructions regarding upgrade is not provided which later leads to a lot of confusion

Talking about admission process, there are two process through which we can take admission from Jceceb This is for state domicile students They take exam jcece for agriculture and allied course prior or somtime after neet It consits 150question for 150 marks 1 marks for each 50question each for bio, phy, chem of 11and 12 level 90 marks is enough for gen category for main campus. Reservations are also their. Icar This is national level exam Now it is merged with cuet but counselling is done separately by icar. Mediore result will be enough for this.

There is nothing such to dislike about the university

Admission:

The admission is through jharkhand combined entrance examination (JCECEB) After completing 12th with Science one can apply for this examination. This is a state govt University. Exam is conducted every year. The question level is moderate.

Admissions to various UG & PG programs at BAU Ranchi are done based on the Combined Competitive Entrance Examination conducted by I.C.A.R. V.C.I. at all India level and Jharkhand Combined Competitive Entrance Examination conducted by JCECEB for UG, PG and Doctoral Programme. Students are selected based on their merit and keeping in view the policies of the Government of India and Jharkhand. Application forms and prospectus can be procured from the college campus by making a cash payment of INR 50 or can be downloaded from the University’s official website. Filled up application form can be sent to the college along with the application processing fee in the form of a demand draft. The application fee is INR 1,000 for General/OBC and INR 500 for SC/ST through bank draft of any nationalized bank. A duly filled application form along with the below-mentioned documents is required to be sent to the, Dy. Registrar Examination, Bihar Agricultural University, Ranchi- 834006

Admission to different UG Programs at BAU is done through a bifold procedure. 15% of the total seats are filled by a Combined Competitive Entrance Examination conducted by I.C.A.R. V.C.I. at the All India level and 85% of the total seats are filled by Jharkhand Combined Competitive Entrance Examination Board, Ranchi.

Admission to BAU Ranchi is done based on entrance exam viz. CCEE which cover 15% of the seats and is conducted by ICAR VCI and rest 85% are filled by JCCEEB Ranchi. And, direct admission is not possible to the college.
