The research expertise of profs are good to be interacted. You can be theoretician, chemist, physicists, biologist even if you have opted for Int. PhD in chemical science. You are free to explore any field.

If you are straightforward that you want to do PhD for sure in science then go for it. Within 1st year of your course you can learn all the techniques in the field of research. You can take any course as elective from the sister institute IISc.
