MCA at NIT Trichy

The main reason for choosing this course was placements. It is almost like a bypass way for Btech level placements. Here companies come and we sit along with the btech guys for placements. So the opportunity is very good. Course curriculum includes same subjects like btech computer science branch like DSA, oops, DBMS, networking, software engineering, artificial intelligence, web development, cloud computing, etc. The faculty-student ratio is around 1:10. The faculties are good, everyone is phd holder. They teach well, but only for the course curriculum, not for placements. you have to work and study on your own for placements, don't worry everyone does that, so the environment is built like that among friends. Apart from that there are assignments, and presentations that happen each semester in one or two subjects. Exam happens very timely, everything gets covered under the academic calendar. The difficulty of the internal exam is normal. If you study well and be attentive in class, you will get good grades.

NIT Trichy comes under the top 10 ranking in engineering colleges in India. It is also a tier 1 college, so placements are good here. For every course, students are allowed to sit for placements from the second last year of their course. for MCA we have 6 semesters. In the 3rd semester companies come to provide internships. and in 5th semester companies come for full-time employment. more than 100 companies visit every year, including most of the popular companies like Google, Microsoft, Samsung, adobe, oracle, amazon, Razorpay, visa, and many more. The highest package offered is around 50 to 60 LPA. average is around 15 to 20 LPA. lowest is around 10LPA. more than 90% of students get placed in noncore branches like MCA and btech CSE etc.

The fee structure for the Mca course is around 80k to 90k per semester including tuition fees and hotel and mess fees. It is having 6 semesters. You can get scholarships from your own state like different states provide scholarships for students studying outside. The central government also provide scholarship via the NSP portal. Via these, you can get a good scholarship. the college also provides scholarships for selected students on the basis of past marks and interviews. It is funded by our alumnus. But you won't get much here, only 1 or 2 students get this. Placements are very good, the average package goes around 11 to 13 LPA. maximum goes up to 50LPA. I am also placed with 23LPA.

Life at NIT Trichy is very good. the campus is very big 800 acres. There is around 6 to 7 mess with different cushions. You get to change your mess every month. There are many clubs also like photography, technical clubs, and social services clubs. there are also department-level clubs for relationships with alumni, for conducting technical and non-technical events, etc. There is 3 college-level annual fest that is organized here, named Pragyan, nittfest, and September. other than that departmental fest also happens for each of the departments. There is one sports fest that happens named a sports fete each year. On the campus also, there are 4 to 5 big grounds, 2 sports complexes, we have an open basketball court, tennis court, etc. the swimming pool is also there. The overall infrastructure is very good, including hostels, department buildings, classrooms, etc. There are many websites made by the students like a mess management website, an app for ongoing events in the campus, lost and found, etc.

I have done MCA from NIT Trichy. For getting admission to NITs for MCA, there is an exam called NIMCET. If you are having any bachelor course, with at least one subject such as mathematics or statistics in your curriculum and having more than 60% marks achieved, then you are eligible for sitting in NIMCET. you can go to nimcet.in the website and get the information brochure for in-depth details about everything like a number of seats, participating colleges, entrance test syllabus, etc. In general 10 NIT offer this course and almost 900 seats are there in total. NIMCET application fees is around 2000 to 3000 rupees, and vary each year. There are reserved seats also for ST, SC, OBC, PWD, and EWS candidates. The numbers are different for each of the participating colleges, which can be seen in the brochure itself. Cut-off also varies each year but more than 500 marks out of 1000 will get you in the top 3 or 4 NITs.
